I can tell you that I summoned in MND gear, tested heals, stripped, tested heals and observed no difference. The reverse as well. Did you zone? Do anything that would make the fairy reset its position? (Teleporters in AK for example might do this).

Also is there no way to have cross hotbar and pet hotbar at the same time? That "Use pet hotbar" thing under Hotbar>Cross doesn't do anything that I can see.

"Use pet hotbar" option for XHB adds a ninth hotbar with pet options. The only way to access it is via R1 tap, which sucks because it means you can't use R1 tap to toggle between hotbars with a pet out.

Also confirm stats for pets are defined on summon. I switch to naked/spiritbond gear all the time after summoning for this reason and always observe pet hp to stay consistent. I always see the stats drop if I zone or teleport though.

There is a slight delay before the stats re-adjust. When I summon my fairy in CM it has over 2.9k hp, when I switch to spiritbond gear it very soon drops to 2.3k.

Does that "very soon" happen to match up with taking the trash chute, returning, etc anything that alters position? I know CM has a ton of those. Granted I didn't wait longer than ~5 minutes on the naked test way back.

Hmm, it may be caused by entering a CS but I'll have to verify it tomorrow. I was really bummed when I noticed I can't reliably circumvent the gear penalty by summoning in normal gear, though.

Layouts are based on preference of course but I feel like sharing mine anyways.

    Spoiler: show

    Left side stuff:
    Shift 1234, markings
Ctrl1 (I don't use anything farther over, just click on it)
    Alt1234
12345 (I click on Bane if I need it)

Right side: Obvious buttons + shift. The geographical locations of the hotkeys are wonky because they were added over time and I think I'd throw myself off changing it now. As SCH I change M4 to be Ruin II (if I can afford to be wasting MP and DPSing, so basically tome farming) or a marker (basically just for Titan circle bombs).

The Virus on E is a Virus+Eye for an Eye macro, because why not.

how do you guys go about your pets as SCH?
Leave it on auto cure or?

Most of the time, it's a major pain in the ass to do anything else. Even when put on passive, the first action you input for the pet will automatically put it back in auto-cast spam mode. You cant even macro any pet commands, and if you manually re-switch it to passive too quickly it will cancel the action the pet is casting.

Eos can spam whatever and I don't give a fuck, just move her around with place. The only thing I feel like I miss out on is timing Illumination, but there's nothing difficult in this game to even require that. And for most of the AoE healing requirements like Titan a spammed Whispering Dawn is just as good.

If I'm using Selene I'll suck it up and on/off manually, mostly because I'd need the timing for haste bursting.

People are Mouse Macroing the fairy heal to the same keybind as Physick and then using a mouse button to cast both, I tried this however and under spam situations the pet still will not heal due to me casting none stop. Does this actually increase healing or does it just make bad healers better due to the fact they heal reactively rather than pro-acively, during coil bosses there is never a time where I am not healing meaning this macro is pointless as it is still locking my pet out, or did I do the macro wrong or something.

I will put Eos on Steady at the beginning of a boss just so she doesn't open with WD and pull regen hate. When a fight heats up I'll have her back in Guard. I have Place/Heel/Away hotkeyed and that's about the extent to which I manually control her.

Also somewhat practical use for the "valley" in my hotbar above: can place Shadow Flare there lol. Actually made me reorder stuff so the middle doesn't have buttons there anymore.

I only have Place and Heel bound. Otherwise I've kept the faeries on auto. I wish they cured at higher HP though, they usually wait until 75%HP to heal it seems.

I only have Away bound for easier access to CM cannons / Prae magitek tbh.

And yes fairies fucking suck at heal detection.

Do Rouse and Fey Illumination increase the heal potency of Whispering Dawn?

Given that casting locks out pet commands, the macro would probably need to have the pet heal command a split second before your heal. Not sure if you'd be willing to add that lag into your heals.

Yes. Also those 2 are basically just as advertised: 40%/20% heal boost to usual value for duration. If it was ever in question.

The caster DPS accuracy requirement for Coil appears to be lower than the physical dps requirement. I'm currently at 439 and haven't missed. I was previously at ~389 and missed about 12% of the time. Hate waiting until I'm in Coil to figure this out. Wish we had coil boss level dummies (wait, do we have Coil boss level dummies?)

Anyone have more data on accuracy for casters?

Also, the pet requires more Accuracy than me. While I did not miss in coil last night, my garuda pet missed plenty.

That tells me that a Smn may need 2 gearsets. 1 to summon in & another for personal use.

Another explanation could be that the pet does not inherit the summoner's accuracy at all. It could be fixed or it could somehow be derived from INT or something.

Tried Ifrit? Maybe he has better accuracy than Garuda.

Messing around with test dummies on SMN trying to calculate an ballpark accurate DPS estimate manually and found something very peculiar about Shadow Flare.

When I looked at its damage I noted that it seemed way higher than it should be for 25 potency, then a much lower # came up and I realized I'd just seen 4 crits in a row.

I noticed this consistently high number if crits and decided to parse it myself (pen & paper). Over 10 casts (100 hits) I came out with 41 non crits to 59 crits.

A 59% crit rate with 355 crit stat, which is only 14 above the base amount (warlock's head was my only piece that added crit rate, I don't use SMN really, most of the gear is stuff I've picked up in passing).

Idk whether this is a set rate inherent to SF or if it's a bonus applied to your regular crit rate (I don't have enough crit rate gear available to SMN to really test that, also manually parsing stuff is beyond tedious) but it's certainly something worth noting.
