Season 8 was being written as series finale in case leads didn't sign back on iirc, but everyone involved did so it continued.

Was discussed in here I think a while back. Again iirc these contracts are all pretty long term, 5+ years unless show is cancelled. Like cote de pablo leaving NCIS cuz she didnt wanna sign on for another 7-8 years.

imo it's hard for shows that have disconnected episodes to keep a strong following for a long time. Not saying that having a continuous story automatically makes a show better but Bones as an example was a show I just got tired of because there was no singular story line.

Yeah I really don't know how that's going to work out well.

The only angle I could see them playing would be shifting more towards Rick's PI business with Alexis and the new chick. But 90% of the show are the Castle/Beckett interactions and the Ryan/Espo shenanigans.

None of the other Castle cast members besides Fillion have been given an indication about their future on the show though sources indicate that Seamus Dever and Jon Huertas would likely return alongside Fillion who is said to be close with them while not getting along so well with Katic.

Hard to imagine the two of them not getting along, with such great on-screen chemistry, but who knows. Obviously I'm not in the business myself, but it'd feel like a borderline betrayal, to continue a show like this without your co-star and not stick up for them.

Castle star Nathan Fillion is addressing the departure of his longtime costar.

“Castle has been one of the greatest joys of my creative life, and I hope the show continues on for years to come,” the actor tweeted Tuesday regarding Stana Katic’s exit of the ABC drama ahead of a potential ninth season. “Stana has been my partner all this time, and I thank her for creating the character of Beckett who will live on for all of us as one of the greatest police officers on television.

Not gonna lie, half the reason this bums me out is because Stana Katic is local talent and by far probably the best looking person to ever come out of Hamilton.
