With all due respect, 10 years ago the penalty shot was a fabeled thing where any was highlight reel worthy. Thanks to the shootout, its not what it used to be.

Wasn't there like 2 or 3 penalty shots on opening night as well? Let alone OT Shootouts. It has definitely lost a bit of its highlight luster, but you can't tell me when your team is in a tight game and a big 2 points are on the line and the game goes into a shootout, you're not shitting your pants with nervous excitement

The Winnipeg Jets think they’ve found suitable linemates to play with Evander Kane.

Now the star right-winger is confident he’s done the same in his personal life.

Social media heated up late Thursday night with news Kane had popped the question to his longtime girlfriend, Ashley Chamberland, at Hy’s Steakhouse. The news was uncovered when the bride-to-be’s friend, Kirsten Jantunen, congratulated Chamberland and posted a photo of what is purportedly the engagement ring on her Instagram account.

“My best friend got engaged,” Jantunen posted.

Kane and Chamberland are both from B.C. They’ve been a couple since before the Atlanta Thrashers were moved to Winnipeg to become the Jets.

Kane and the Jets play their home opener on Friday night at MTS Centre against the Los Angeles Kings.

I get these newsletters just from having attended a single Hawks vs. Preds playoff game in 2010 in Nashville. Having a billing address around Chicago didn't stop them at all. I get more emails from the Preds than I do from the Hawks and I was a Hawks season ticket holder.
