I couldnt either, I kinda wanted to see him finish the hat trick at the end, even if it meant running the score up further on USA
Wow hearing the dosing size vs testing limits, I actually sorta question Backstrom a bit when I honestly didn't think anything bad of his failed test initiallyEdit: Apparently Zyrtec-D is a combination of Citirizine and Pseudoephedrine, and the dosage can range from 5-120mg taken twice daily. I'm not sure how much of that is Citirizine and how much is Pseudoephedrine. He's got to be at the top end of the dosage to test over 150mg (unless he took it right before the drug test).
I was still curious, so From Wikipedia:
According to drugs.com 120mg is the maximum normal dosage, twice a day, for allergies. Shitty situation.Pseudoephedrine is excreted through urine and concentration in urine of this drug shows big inter individual spread, that is, the same dose can give a vast difference in urine concentration for different individuals [21] Pseudoephedrine is approved to be taken up to 240 mg per day. This dose gave in seven healthy male subjects a range in urine concentration of 62.8 to 294.4 microgram per milliliter (µg/ml) with mean ± standard deviation 149 ± 72 µg/ml [22] Thus, normal dosage of 240 mg pseudoephedrine per day can result in urine concentration levels exceeding the limit of 150 µg/ml set by WADA for about half of every user.
not saying it proves guilt, but it definitely opens the door for questions. 2x a day drugs usually means the liver processes it all out in roughly ~12 hours, its not like they last 24 hours per dose and hes always got 240mg in him. And even then, thats the very highest dose in the dosing range.
It's worth noting that in all the unnecessary reading I did today, the only type of headache I saw Pseudoephedrine being used to treat were those caused by sinus congestion (which Pseudoephedrine relieves). If it's not a sinus-related thing, I'm not sure why he's taking it, but if he's been taking it for seven years it must be working.
*that moment when I remember my post-Sochi schedule observation before the Olympic break where the Pens play back-to-backs @ANA/@SJ, WSH/@WSH, and then PHI/@PHI.*
Fuck.
A ye olde article, but somewhat valid nonetheless:

So about that Msl thingy, he did confirmed he wanted to get traded, which kinda surprised me
And he confirmed that he still wanna get traded trade deadline will be interesting
i don't want to be that guy but let's be real here this isn't for allergies
you have players coming out form the past saying that everyone in the league has at least tried sudo for its stimulant effects and that tons of people use it actively. again, it's totally legal in terms of NHL rules
sounds like he or a trainer calculated half life wrong, what 190 with a 150 limit says to me is he took one pill on the day he was supposed to but forgot to not take one the day before
Wouldn't have ever considered allergy meds an "upper" since they basically only make my head less foggier than before.
Pretty much...regardless if its circumstance, or THE FIX IS IN, or whatever multitude of reasons, the IOC rules state that psuedophedrine is illegal past a certain quantity, and he was passed that certain quantity, based on the fact that there have been NO accounts of "whoa I've never taken this". It sucks, it ultimately casts a shadow over Canada's win with "what if", but the fact remains he DID have drug in his system past the IOC accepted amount, and the only people at fault is him and the team doctor.
Just found out a friend won tickets to the heritage classic on Sunday. Think I might be going with him.
Nice! I'll be at the outdoor game Saturday against the Pens, should be a blast.
