It's a few years in the future. The "fixed" timeline should've been around the time of the first xmen movies. This one is set in like 2020s. Thus the aging Professor X and basically everyone else has been taken out of action.
And to be clear, Logan still looks great, and I can take it as a stand alone for w/e reason. It's just painful seeing them try to explain different timelines that don't make sense.
Xmen Movie timelines make Legend of Zelda timelines look amazing.
Movie takes place in 2029, 5 years after any other point in the universe. It's literally in the article.
@Voldemorgoth Don't think @RealHughJackman said that exactly. Simple fact. We take place in 2029, 5 yrs past anything depicted in XMEN film.
That doesn't change anything we're talking about lol
Perhaps in those 5 years Decimation/House of M happened? They don't outright say it's the Decimation storyline in this movie but could use this movie as a hint/preview for the next X-Men movie story they decide to fuck up?
(I don't know much about the comics timeline >_> )
Seems stupid to put this five years after Apocalypse (do I have that right?) to try and get around continuity errors because they're then going to have to write around this movie in the future to avoid the same shit.
Nah, they'll just reboot the franchise again.
No, it takes place like 45 years after Apocalypse. It takes place 5 years after DoFP. 2029 is pretty well into the future.
I think it's more interesting that after basically fixing everything in DoFP, they managed to fuck everything over again to catastrophic state in 5 years.
Ah, I misread. So they're basically trying to take the DMC2 route of "it's so far into the future we can pretend it never happened if we want to."
It's a sequel to DoFP/apocalypse. Does that make more sense to people? All Xmen movies since DoFP are in a new timeline, since new shit is happening. The closest we have to this is the end scene from DoFP, which took place 5 years prior to this. Apocalypse happened, unfortunately, but after that training wreck it's not hard to see the world go to shit after the fact.
If you haven't put two and two together yet, then the final scene in DoFP takes place decades after any scene in Apocalypse.
I thought Apoc was in a different Timeline.
If it's in a different timeline then they made it that way with no plot device to help them. Apocalypse directly references DoFP events, and for it to be it's own timeline is pretty shitty writting.
Wouldn't be the first example of shitty writing. IDK. I just wanna see Wolverine slice some motherfuckers up. Fuck the timeline.
Per Jackman, it's an entirely different timeline and universe. Not linking to an article because his direct quote is everywhere. That said, wtf is a "slightly" different universe?
“Not only is it different in terms of timeline and tone, it's a slightly different universe,” Jackman said. “It's actually a different paradigm and that will become clear [when you see the movie].”
Fuck the timelines.
It sounds to me like they just wanted to adapt old man Logan story and not really worry about the franchise as a whole.
