So from the site that shall not be named. It follows from epilogue of DoFP.

When was the "present" storyline of DoFP set? Because 2024 still seems like too early for Logan to look like this given how slow he ages.
I believe the pemise is that after he refuses to use his powers for violence the healing factor started to slow down (I don't know why that matters though) to the point he's at now.
Could it be that he used his healing factors too much when all the X-Men were dying that it got overworked to the point that it aged him quite a bit?
I imagine it's a use it or lose it type scenario. Him avoiding violence for so long eventually made it stop keeping him youthful too.
Or maybe he's just old as fuck and his healing factor is starting to break down? Dude is like what? 150 lol? He's not immortal.
from an interview with the director on a site I can't link.As such, Logan will tackle something that hasn't yet been addressed in the X-Men film universe: "the idea of mutants when they’re no longer useful to the world, or even sure if they can do what they used to do," when their abilities eventually wane thanks to an aging body.
Wolverine's healing factor doesn't make him immortal (like Heroes wants you to think). It makes him age MUCH MUCH slower because his healing factor is replacing cells as they die.
From a medical standpoint, think of it like our problem with aging is that we run out of stem cells that replace our dead ones. Wolverine's stem cells constantly renew and thus he ages slower. Once he reaches a certain age even his mutant stem cells will run out of steam and thus, while he's still technically dying, he just dies "more slowly" than someone else. That's why you see scars.
I'm betting some of the clips we see where his hair is darker than others is earlier stuff before Xavier was the last to die and he spends the rest of the movie tracking everyone down and murdering them violently. I mean, the dude is almost 200 years old. If he sat around and did nothing he could easily live to 200+.
Wow that is a damn good trailer. Gonna take a guess now and say that scene at the end where Logan is standing there with a stick and the girl comes over to hold his hand. Logan is actually holding a shovel and just buried Prof. X
So this is the same time as DOFP, just without Nimrod.
Yup

Turns out it still works, it's just that the wounds now leave scars behind. "We imagined he heals quickly, still, but it leaves a scar," Mangold explained. "The simple idea was that his body would start to get a little more ravaged with a kind of tattooing of past battles, lacerations that remain of previous conflicts.”
Even though it's almost certainly X-23, Mangold isn't spilling just yet. “I think I will just let speculation run rampant about that," he tells the mag. "I think what this film is about in many ways is family. From there out I’d let everyone figure out what we’re up to on their own, at least at this early stage.”
Mangold finally wanted to give fans the Wolverine movie they've been asking for since the character made his big screen debut. "We’re really trying to deliver what folks have always imagined those kind of battles would look like. There is a lot of high-octane action in the movie. We’re just trying to do it very differently and very viscerally.”

That's not how healing works.
2023 was the year that Sunspot, Warpath, Blink, and all of them were running around in during DoFP.
Don't think there was ever any confirmed for the epilogue of Wolverine waking up in the X-Mansion with everyone alive again. Best guess would be it takes place sometime in the late 90's or early 2000's simply based on the time the original movies came out.
Almost every source I can find says 2023, but it is also speculated that Logan woke up in 2014.
Yeah nothing was ever said as to when it was he woke up at the end. Could be after X2 or you have to consider X2 as never taking place since Jean was there. Or it took place and something was changed so she wasn't lost on the mission and didn't go phoenix crazy.
