Yeah I posted that before I saw the terms, 2-year $16 million isn't crazy expensive and he's still a good outfielder. I did see that their Chooch contingency plan is Pierzynski, dunno what to think about that, lol.

I guess if you are grading it on a curve based on other Ruben signings it isn't the worst, but you are paying an old OF based on a BABIP boosted outlier season

He has a career BABIP of around .320 IIRC so it's not a huge outlier for him. Not bad to sign him before the mega deals start getting thrown around, $8 million per for a team with a $175 million payroll isn't going to kill them.

Agreed. Last year dude was playing in Mexico. The year before that he was involved with roids. Now he comes back and at 36, has a career year? Something doesn't seem quite right here.

Like I said, just the fact that this means we aren't going to sign Nelson Cruz to some ridiculous 5/$75 million deal and lose a draft pick already makes this signing a win. Plus even if he only produces 2 WAR its a 4 win bump from the slop (Delmon Young) we threw out there last year. Not that 4 wins will help us make the playoffs......
