When did the episodes actually go up? I thought that Netflix usually puts series up at midnight, but I checked a few times and didn't notice them up until the evening. Only got through one episode last night, but thus far did not disappoint. I'm only disappointed that I won't be able to binge watch this weekend.

Midnight pacific Thursday into Friday, iirc.

My problem with this show, the massive glaring problem, if this takes place in The Avengers universe how is a mind controlling villain so far fetched. If this is in Hell's Kitchen then they should be pretty fucking close to Avenger's Tower...

They made a decent showing of how Killgrave mostly kept his existence under wraps. That paired up with Jess not wanting to reveal her powers to the world (which would undoubtedly happen if she were somehow able to contact the Avengers) gives a decent enough reason to not see them involved.

Just finished up, and aside from Robyn (didn't like the character or the actress really) acting in this show was top notch. I have to imagine Tennant might be in consideration for an Emmy from this, he nailed it.

Couple episodes left, but this'll probably wind up getting a 6/10 from me, or 3/5 if using Netflix's star system. While I'd rather not liken it to The Following series that aired on Fox, I just feel like there are way too many similarities for it to not feel like a "been done before" series. One has a sociopathic british dude with some questionably intoxicating charisma. The other just replaces that last point with outright mind control. Meanwhile, both protagonists get mercifully spared by the musings of the villain throughout their runs, ultimately in some form of perverted love. Supporting cast then does a bunch of stupid shit because fuck common sense and "character development". Overall, I have a difficult time mixing this into the hero genre and it's not just because it tries to be dark or makes light of creepy things like incest between the twins. If someone goes into this having never heard of Jessica Jones, I'd say the series confirms why. Just feels like a forgettable mish-mash of genres that don't excel in any field, instead hoping to ride on the occasional shock value. Even the virtually obligatory Netflix sex scenes are hokey.

I'm 7 episodes in. Nice little twist at the end of episode 4. Episode 7 is a little wtf-y. It's dark like Daredevil, but lacks a little something. If Daredevil was a 8-9 on a scale of 1-10, Jessica Jones is probably a 6-7, so depends how much you liked Daredevil I suppose. It's good so far but not wtf amazing. It does have me excited for The Defenders, when they all get together - that was announced as a Netflix series too, right? That should be a lot of fun.

The biggest glaring problem is Luke's bar is located on lower east side of Manhattan and nowhere near Hell's kitchen! As a New Yorker I find it insulting!

Kilgrave is great. Finished the series yesterday. Fun show with a good villain. Not a good as daredevil but still super awesome in its own way.

Finished yesterday. Show was really well done. Unfair to compare to Daredevil as they're 2 distinctly different shows. It really makes me wonder what the point of the movies is. I mean I know the obvious reason, money. But from a storytelling perspective, they mostly suck. So far we've had 2 Marvel Netflix shows and the characters are so much better than anything Marvel has done on the big screen. The villains are awful in comparison. 10 minutes of screen time "I'm bad because reasons" vs. hours of buildup and backstory.

I think the idea here was to establish there's more going on and other super powered people out there other than the Avengers. At times though it did feel a bit too disconnected from MCU, as did Daredevil. Granted they're trying to establish their own thing, and having a little kid in a Captain America costume was a nice touch as is mentioning events, but it wouldn't hurt to tie it together a bit more. A subtle shot of Avengers Tower, something. Or even having Daredevil appear at some point. I mean it's the same neighborhood, and all this fighting and shit is going on. He should be there. Minor gripes. Loved Luke Cage. Dude is a beast. Can't wait to see his show.

It wouldn't have fit with the tone of the series at all, but I'm a little disappointed Killgrave never broke the 4th wall. It was entertaining having someone who knew he was in a comicbook, though not in the goofy way it's always portrayed via Deadpool.

Jessica Jones and Daredevil are both chock full of normies who aren't exactly clued into what we know as viewers about the larger MCU. The existence of enhanced people is just hitting the scene and it wouldn't be surprising if people denied or held out skepticism that such things are real.

Certainly the justice system wouldn't change overnight and that's mostly what DD/JJ home in on.
