Man, you guys are lol picky. Choreography was fine for what it was, and the story was also fine even if it was transparent; still more enjoyable than JJ.

I'm at like 8th episode and it's a struggle to watch... I haven't watched the other Marvel Netflix stuff but this one doesn't really inspire much faith.
choreography was fine for what it was? it was a kung fu show and the choreography was garbage, hello?
Watch both Dare Devil seasons and you will understand the standards we are expecting from these Netflix Marvel shows. Season 2 set the bar high. Here's to hoping Iron Fist gets that much better in season 2.
LC was way better than IF. At least the first half. IF sucked pretty much all the way through.
I took like a 4 day break from the show and was considering abandoning it at ep 6 like I did with LC and JJ but I finished it just because of Coleen Wings ass in those work out pants. Apparently it's second most watched Marvel show on Netflix so we probably will get season 2. I really hope they step their game up with that one.
I've still got two episodes to go but it's shaped up ok towards the end IMO. Not a fan of it occasionally becoming The Meachum Sibling Show though.
I think Davos had it right when he said "you're the worst Iron Fist ever" or whatever. For being a master martial artist, he gets fucked up by the most random of things. Seems off that the other Netflix series built the Hand as a group of assassins and ninjas, and for the most part, IF just shows thugs with guns/knives. What happened to the swarms of ninja DD had to deal with in S2?
DD set the bar for the Marvel Netflix shows. JJ was as interesting and binge worthy to me as DD was, mostly because of Tennant. I actually kind of hate the character of JJ but still enjoyed the show. The second season of DD was not as good as the first imo so definitely also comes after JJ. Luke Cage I made it about halfway before I stopped donating my limited free time to it. Iron Fist I watched a half an episode before I gave up. Finn Jones looks like a busted version of Justin Timberlake.
I'm shocked that I agree with the consensus opinion. I do not have high hopes for Defenders, partly because the direction the shows have been going in, and partly because I am an old school Marvel reader who thinks of Dr. Strange, Silver Surfer, Hulk, and Ghost Rider when I think Defenders.
Just finished it. I enjoyed it. Definitely had its issues though.
Started out slow as fuck, took too much time on getting the company back, getting out of the mental hospital, shit, he didn't even find out why he was a shitty iron first until like episode 11 or 12. Fights early on were shit, and the quick "fight" with the DEA was absolutely horrible. I had to rewind at one point because the wife pointed out that one guy fell over without even being hit lol. I also wish it wasn't an origin story. I normally don't mind origin stories, when its an episode or two, or a movie. But this was 12 fucking hours of Danny already being iron fist and trying to come to terms with why he sucks at it. Lets just fucking get to him being good at the job and kicking the shit out of people already. He was also creepy as fuck in the first few episodes, following coleen around and showing up at her dojo and shit.
Good stuff though. The fights definitely get better later on (with the exception of the DEA scene). I hated Ward's character early on, but once he's clean and clear headed, I actually enjoy him. Accepting his faults, and ending the season with his and Danny's pictures on the wall was nice.
Every villain was very well done I think. Sure, Kingpin and Purple man are probably better than all of them individually since they had more screen time, but I thought we had 4 solid antagonists in IF.
- Gao is fucking great. Everything about her is great. Between the old lady being able to kick the shit out of people thing, and the not telling a lie thing, and the way she just enjoys getting to see another IF after hundreds of years thing. Loved every scene with her.
- Bakuto was the weakest of them I thought (character wise). But even though his character was meh, he gave coleen some decent scenese, good characterization and good fight scenes. I really enjoyed the sword fight between them.
- Davos has a fantastic relationship with Danny. Theres a lot of love and hate there, and his jealousy and anger are both excellent motivators for him to be a full on villain going forward.
- Harold was fucking nuts the entire series. He was always a scumbag, but between watching him slowly lose his mind after coming back to life again, but also accepting his death and telling Joy how much he loved her... I was very much looking forward to seeing where his story was going to go and how it was going to end.
Also, you're all wrong.Spoiler: show
Last thing. IF suffers a lot from what some Marvel movies suffer from. Just call the other team members for christ's sake. But its worse here. In the movies, its different villains, and the movies generally last a few days at most, not a lot of downtime to call the team in, noone to make introductions between super heroes that don't know each other, etc. But in this show... He's fighting the hand, Daredevils main fucking enemy. And he's hanging out with Claira 50% of the time. She can fucking call up her bullet proof boyfriend, go find DD (she has a way to contact him right? I don't remember) and together they can go end this shit in two episodes.
What I'm worried about now, is that Defenders is going to be about 5 episodes of them running into eachother randomly, an episode or two where there is a misunderstanding and they fight eachother, an episode of Claira giving them all a stern talking to, and then maybe 2 episodes where they work as a team to actually do something at the end. When what it really should be, is 12 hours of them drinking, making jokes, cracking skulls, and getting shit down.
Sorry for the stupid long post lol.
Also one thing that really annoyed me about IF- how did he not realize how crazy he sounded when he was talking about Kun Lau and being the IF? Not having that much common sense after it got you in trouble the first time irritated me so bad
Maybe he got hit in the head when his plane crashed.
If it was me i'd have proved who i was to joy and ward episode 1.
why let security escort me out, already in the damn office. Beat them up and convince them then and there.
still stupid they never showed any kun lun scenes or a montage of him learning his kung fu or something, wouldn't have minded a flashback or 2 here and there. Surely they spoke with an accent, and had cellphones and computers since davos knew how to use em to find danny.
The ninjas were the japanese hand lead by that one ninja guy I thought.
Madam Gao had her axe wielding chinese triad dudes. or was that the bald chinese guy.
then mexican guy had trainees
I forgot to mention that I also really liked Ward. He the perfect dickhead rich douche bag. Loved it.
