just watched, it was aight. has fuck all to do with the comic narrative so far but i imagine/hope it'll hew closer to them once the gang hits the road. casting seems solid (Tulip is awful different from comic Tulip tho and by a lot more than skin pigment), aesthetics capture West Texas through and through, good directing eye, no profanity but plenty of violence and violent humor. we'll see.

The white thing that enters his at the end is a infant soul of a baby between a demon and an angel which will give Jesse power of word of God. He can basically tell anyone to do anything and they have to obey him

i liked it, visually interesting and cassidy/tulip are pretty awesome. i've only read the wiki on the comic so i have a general idea of it's plot but i'm pretty sure the show is going to tiptoe around most of the super blasphemous stuff pretty hard, so if you're watching it hoping for a faithful adaptation you may be bonered, but i think it'll be worth a watch just as a show on its own merits

Either I've been in a hole lately or AMC did not do enough marketing work for this; right up my alley and had no idea it was airing until I saw this thread. Definitely going to check it out.

I'm one of the biggest Preacher fans on the entire planet, so I've had super high hopes for this. There's alot of drastic differences in the initial setup, but it still feels in line with the tone of the comic.

I definitely like the casting choice for Cassidy.

In the comic it's straight up called "The Word of God." As long he can be understood (so it doesn't work on animals or people who don't speak American), whoever hears him using it has to do whatever he tells them to. It's not to quite the literal level they showed in the pilot, though he did definitely misuse it a few times by not fully understand what he was telling the person to do. I'd elaborate but it might still be a plot point later on given the people they've cast in the show.

I disagree. It felt nothing like Preacher at all, only the names of characters were the same. And to show how The Word of God works, did they really need that guy to cut out his own fucking heart?
