Want to avoid spoiling myself by reading back through the thread, but is this worth picking up? With Flash gone for the time being and Arrow being hot garbage, I've got some room to pick up some new stuff.

I disagree. It felt nothing like Preacher at all, only the names of characters were the same. And to show how The Word of God works, did they really need that guy to cut out his own fucking heart?

im enjoying this quite a bit, wonder how much crazier this season will get. (i know the gist of the comic plot so i know it can get a fuckton crazier, but i doubt it'll go that far)

That's what I gathered from watching the show. I feel like I'm missing subtle nuances.

While the characters are roughly the same (some in name only, like the angels), the show and comic are entirely separate entities with what we've seen so far.

Either way I would 100% advocate reading the comic. If you can handle the fucked up shit and aren't too easily offended, the comic is an incredible read and one of my favorite works of fiction in existence.
