I think he mentioned a trait or something that would pretty much redo a GLA's skill set? I dunno, the whole class/job thing seems like a massive disaster.

If I recall correctly, there wasn't "designated tank" in any offline FF up until X, since there was no way to make a mob attack specific target and therefore make a chara actually "tank" something. At least there was an option do to that. XII was actually the first, that took the whole concept of tanking into the offline FFs. The way I managed to... well, interpret that post was, that since according to him DRK was "tanky" in offline FFs, it HAD to be "tanky" in XI and should be "tanky" in XIV. Cause, you know, otherwise it's not a true FF game.I don't know why he referenced FFT anyway considering there really wasn't a designated "Tank" class in that game
DRK being based off GLD would be stupid. GLD has too many tank focused abilities. If I had to choose a current class it could come off of, it would be lancer. Already carries large weapon and has a couple DRK like abilities (Blood for Blood and the healing/crit thing).
Also, Provoke.

OF summed up.I could care less if any other piece is better because the math says so.
If I remember right, he vocalized a desire to bring all FFXI jobs, in one form or another, into FFXIV. Personally I've been thinking DRK should perhaps come from MRD, with lancer cross class skills.
He didn't confirm it, he basically said "if we were to make Dark Knight we could add in an ability/trait that would change the defensive abilities/traits to offensive ones. That is IF we made Dark Knight."

I see what you mean. We created the system, but we do not necessarily need to follow it all the time. For example, let’s say that the Dark Knight is the second Gladiator job (attention, it is still not a confirmation), when you get its job stone at level 30, all acquired Gladiator skills will certainly be modified to better fit the image of the Dark Knight.
This one is old, but I figured it deserves a special mention.

Need to kick all those gimp tanks from doing coil with sub 10k HP.
I unlike many others get the proper gear before moving along in the content and carrying my own...Says the level 50 BRD without Blood for Blood or Invigorate.I wonder if he did the same with Swiftcast for his WHM. Still no Invigorate or BfB btw.3rd class, just got it leveled 2 days ago, jesus.
I just, am not even going to bother with this...
Lets be honest if they weren't penny pinching they would have back up servers which they could use to keep running the game while they updated crap . then switch to the updated server which would require you to log out and back in.
Basic crap but it would require some money spent and a bit of programing skill .
Unfortunately they would rather risk people quiting and actually lose money . Now the amount of people quiting would probably be less than the cost of a backup server and also the downtime serves as a time sink so you play less and pay longer.
omg... seriously... I would reply to him but my reply would get me banned in 30s. Plus I don't think I can deal with reading AND posting on OF.
I want the thread subtitle to be changed to "You can't proof that"
Well, to be honest I don't see much of a problem with this in XIV whereas in XI it would indeed be. You don't really need any of the cross class abilities so you can fate grind your way to 50, and it shouldn't really be a problem for someone to get these after they got to that point, as long as they didn't insist on doing lvl 50 content without them.
yay suspemded on the OF
Great news!
