This isn’t just a tribute; as amazing as A Link to the Past is, I can’t think of a single thing A Link Between Worlds doesn’t do better...In every way, A Link Between Worlds is exactly what you want out of a Zelda game.

Along with some of the best music I've ever heard in a game, its intelligent dungeon design, incredible use of 3D and the merge mechanic - which will constantly trick and challenge your mind - and the numerous nods to the entire series meant I thought my heart would burst from my chest in joy. This deserves its place among the great Zelda games of yesteryear.

A stellar game all the way around. A Link Between Worlds maximizes the concept of depth, from the 3D, to the 2D mechanic, to the characters. This game certainly fits well in the pantheon of amazing Zelda games.

I'm not normally one for 3D, but I wouldn't play A Link Between Worlds any other way.

A Link between words is a delightful trap - it starts beautifully revamping the A Link to The Past IP, then it shocks you with some lovely twists and saga firsts. It's a "back to the roots to look to the future" vibe which is hard to resist.

In a little over 24 hours, I will be playing the sequel to Link to the Past after almost 22 years of it's SNES release. I am fucking ready, I hope it's all the talk and hype people are making it out to be. The additional Hero/Hard mode will be a huge welcome. I haven't been this excited for a modern sequel, ever. I don't know why a thread wasn't made by now, but this easily warrants one. The online versus shadow matches should be interesting.

yeah, i am pretty goddamned excited about this game. i might actually swing over to gamestop to grab this at midnight tomorrow. they'll be open for the xbone launch, and typically they'll sell anything releasing that day even if they're not specifically promoting it for the event.

My local GS told me that I had to pick up a ticket if I was attending the launch, they are going to thankfully categorize the lines so I don't have to fucking wait for everyone buying eks bawks. Reason I want to is because I work Friday and would rather have the game downloaded and ready to play already. Not to mention opening the 3DS XL bundle is going to make me feel like a kid on Christmas.

Was my birthday today and my wife got me a PS4. Super excited about that, but not as much as playing the sequel to one of the best games ever on Friday.
All I need next is a new 2D/sidescrolling Metroid.
So amped for this game.

A lot of people are complaining (one of the few complaints I am hearing) about the lack of new items. Considering the individual upgrades you could get for them, I really don't see what there is to complain about, a lot of stuff gets reused in the series.

If anything they should have reused of all things in the 3D games, it's the pegasus boots, why haven't they been seen since LttP? Jumping side to side, backflipping or rolling around infinitely to get around faster looks fucking stupid.

I assume you'd only see them, Hito, during CSes or specified panels or such if they were in a 3D game. I figure it'd be either for a lack of processing power to handle such speed while retaining framerate, or a lack of ability to properly design content around moving at such speed within a 3D environment. I'll admit, its a hell of a lot easier to program for extreme speed in a side-scrolling or top-down affair.
