Aetheryte rings have always been able to convert into elemental materia, quite often actually since they're in some limbo category that isn't combat or crafting.
iirc all they can convert into is VIT or elemental materia.
He's saying he didn't get elemental materia from aetheryte rings when he wasn't melding them with ele. mat. Implying the melds were responsible for getting ele. mat.
Pretty sure there were proven cases of elemental materia obtained from non-melded aetheryte rings so he was probably lucky.
Edit: late
Good to know, thanks for the info. I guess it was just odd luck, my sample size was pretty small.
Is i70 still the way to go for spiritbonding?
I prefer i90, but really it depends on the duties you'd rather do to spiritbond. i70 is certainly cheaper, but it's also way gimper.
How many runs does it take to do? I'm assuming T4 is what people do, right?
I only have experience with double-melded NQ i90 gear (same bond rate as single-melded HQ i90 gear if you bother to HQ the gear) and between Snowcloak/QarnHM/SastashaHM it takes 3 runs to finish a set if you take the shit off during bosses. If you keep your i90 shit on for the first two bosses of Qarn HM, you can finish a set in two runs. I also only do left-side gear 'cause the accessories cost more (though I haven't priced them recently).
idk anything about doing i70s.
Just did a few sets of i70s and it takes about 4 to 5 T4 runs with double melded i70 and a spiritbind potion. Which isn't too bad as I was going for desynthesis materials anyway.
Randomly saw this in the open world. This is the new i115 craftable stuff you get from quests.Lherne Azehos successfully converts the rainbow robe of casting into a wind materia II.
..........the fuck?
How can you get T2 materia from that.
It's pretty common. For materia and demimateria purposes, the crafted i115 gear seems to count very similar to crafted i40ish gear. If you want IVs, i90 crafted gear still seems the way to go, at least until i110 materials crater in price.
That said, combat materia prices in general have dropped like rocks for now, so dunno that they'll be much point until we start seeing Alexander Savage-grade crafted gear.
i160 crafted gives V's according to the tooltip on T5 materia. But we all know SE and their tooltips; its likely a low %age chance
Didn't the 3.0 patch notes say no tier V could be obtained by converting right now, only through the tranmogrify goblin? And that would change in the future?
Oh my bad:
[3.0] Players can now convert gear into grade five materia.
* Grade five materia for crafting and gathering classes will not be available at the release of patch 3.0. They are scheduled to be added at a later date. However, it will be possible to receive grade five crafting or gathering materia via materia transmutation by speaking with Mutamix.
A couple grade V crits sold for 1.5 ish mil.
