Rick never found the Rick who killed his original wife and daughter. It makes me wonder if he discovered somewhere that it was him the whole time, and that's why he doesn't time travel.

Also the finale was a pretty frank criticism of capitalism.

Personally find this too cool for school attitude pretty annoying. If you want to build up hints at a larger myth arc you don't also get to bitch about not providing any narrative payoff. Heck the reveals in this episode didn't even seem internally consistent.

So the dead wife/daughter thing wasn't a made up backstory after all and after spending his life futilely trying to track down the one Rick out of the infinite responsible becomes the jaded asshole in the series - ok fine so far. But then after apparently giving up, he decides to isolate all realities where he is the smartest being the the universe from all the others because... something? I guess they mentioned the term central finite curve and this was what they came up with to bridge a larger narrative with Evil Morty that they were never really interested in resolving in the first place and just threw something together.

Though R&M fans are the worst so I guess there really isn't a good horse in this race.

Was it ever stated that our Rick (the Rickiest Rick?) was the one responsible for the central finite curve?

I don't see it being illogical that a central finite curve exists just because our rick is jaded and gave up trying to avenge his daughter's death. The way I understood it, it wasn't our Rick specifically that set it up, but a collaborative effort of several Ricks, to feed into Rick's ego as being the smartest man in the universe, and this way there's no one that can compete with that. It fits perfectly with the egocentric person that Rick, at his core, is. Everything (even Morty) exists to please Rick, and anything that threatens that is rejected.

Rick and Morty: The Anime was announced by WarnerMedia on Wednesday, and the series is now in production and will ultimately air on Adult Swim and stream on HBO Max.

Rick and Morty: The Anime will span 10 episodes and be directed by Tower of God director Takashi Sano. Sano has worked with Adult Swim on the series in the past, directing both of its previous anime shorts, “Rick and Morty vs. Genocider” and “Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil).” Animation for the series will be handled by Telecom Animation Film (Shenmue the Animation, Tower of God), the same studio that animated those shorts.
