In case nobody wants to click 2 links to get to the meat:

    Access
    1. Complete the quest "Primal Nature" (Western Thanalan (X:11, Y:13), Urianger)
    2. Initiate and complete the quest "Gale-force Warning" (New Gridania (X:9, Y:11), Vorsaile Heuloix)

    Phase 1
    Skill Set
    1. Vortex
    2. AoE Feather attack
    3. Mistral
    4. Plume summons
    Behavior and Patterns
Vortex around edge of the arena. AoE feather attack from her initial position. Mistral from the same position (Short recast; must LoS before this move occurs). Summon plumes and feathers.

    Phase 2
    Skill Set
    1. Chirada and Suparna summon
    2. Aerial Blast
    Behavior and Patterns
Garuda summons Chirada and Suparna. Unlike hard mode, only the red line initially appears (Refer to this add as "red"). Soon after, the green line appears and connects Chirada and Suparna (Refer to this add as "green"). As the distance between red and green decreases, the damage they take decreases as well. After roughly 30s, Garuda and red teleport to each other's positions. After roughly 30, remaining mobs (Including adds) gather at the center for Aerial blast.

    Phase 3
    Skill Set
    1. Mistral
    2. Green plume summon
    3. Plume bakuhatsu
    4. Chirada and Suparna summon
    5. Vortex
    Behavior and Patterns
After Aerial blast, Garuda summons a green plume. When players defeat this plume, the plume does an AoE damage attack and leaves a plot of sacred soil. When Garuda readies mistral, players must use this sacred soil to mitigate the damage. Shortly after, Garuda summons another green plume, Chirada, and Suparna. In addition, she spawns vortexes with an X formation.

Whoever has hate on the Spiny Plume will get stacks on them (Mellow Wind or something). At 2 stacks it does Cyclone which is 500ish damage (maybe AoE?), at 3 stacks it uses Super Cyclone which is 3500-4000 damage to everybody.

I was not able to pull hate off of whoever had it on them so I'm assuming it's focused on the person it initially aggros, unless there's some special way to pull it off of somebody that we didn't find last night. Last night the MT had it on him before the tornado's and it got on him again after the tornado's spawned, before his stacks had worn off, so we went directly into the tornado phase with a Super Cyclone going off that resulted in a wipe cause some people got hit by the falling feathers. It was just bad luck. Everybody needs to be kept at full hp whenever 2 stacks hit or your dps needs to be on top of their shit for the rest of the fight after that first spiny plume spawn.

What we've been doing is let the Spiney go to whoever has hate, then the OT taunts when the Spiney puts up 1 stack on whoever had aggro.

The problem we've run into is the OT not having enough taunts to pull both Suparna and the Spiney in the Cyclone phase. When we go back in tomrorw we're going to try just letting the MT keep Suparna even after Chirada dies, so the OT has taunt up for pulling the Spiney after it lets out a stack.

this is our problem as well. The final push. My voke just isn't up fast enough. Plus with the giant X tornadoes positioning to avoid getting too many stacks on a sister is a pain in the rear.

It's not focused. Actually taunts super easily. Just need to make sure it doesn't have dots on it.

Weird, a BB combo wasn't pulling it off of people who hadn't done anything to it. Is Provoke the only thing that rips it off of somebody or was I just not paying enough attention last night?

EDIT: Also does the initial target of the green plume have any pattern to it or is it completely random?

We downed it by just swapping between MT and OT with taunt. After you get that down the fight is trivial. Also everything can be flashed which is nice.

Yeah the Spiny Plume has some weird ass hate, seemed that only Flash and Provoke worked. We waited til 2 stacks then voke off whoever has it on them. Our biggest problem seemed to be our MNK getting one-shotted by Suprana/Chiralda's Wicked Whirl, in the end we just had him change to BRD and we cleared it no problem but is there any good way of avoiding this?

Just adding, I don't know if there's a specific trigger for Spiny Plume "detonating" the stacks. In one case we had one guy with 3 stacks, killed spiny + hide for Aerial Blast, afterwards sisters+spiny pop and spiny immediately does Super Cyclone.

The same person became the target of the new Spiny and it blew up immediately because the stacks hadn't worn off.

Does anyone know why sometimes mistral does several k damage and sometimes nothing when inside the spiny plume shield? Someone in our group was saying it was related to having wind burn on.

Won it a couple times, almost farm-mode, so a less jumbled take on the fight:

Phase 1: From engage to 90% or 30 seconds in, whichever is first.
Pretty much exactly like the HM version, no changes just yet. Tank will want to be ready to move into the middle-ish area at that transition though. Rest of the party (ranged/healers) should be dead-center between all 4 rocks to avoid AoE damage.

    TRANSITION PHASE
Garuda will conjure up the "eye of the storm" thing; draw the safe area in your mind with the rocks being the "corners" of a circle. She will teleport and do a few small "feather rain" AoE with like .5s cast offscreen, mostly targeted around where she was. This does a fair bit of damage (1.5k+?) and applies a DoT that hurts a bit. Can stack if you get hit by multiple. She will do this almost anytime she teleports. After this she will reappear between the NW and NE rocks and do a VERY quick cast of Mistral Shriek. LoS it with the NW and NE rocks.

    ---

    Phase 2: Ends at ~50%?
Summons a bunch of regular plumes and 1 Satin plume. You will probably want to kill them all as the first Aerial Blast is pretty brutal with a lot of rock damage. About... 30 seconds? after plumes spawn, she will spawn sisters (DIE DIE DIE). Unlike the HM I think the sisters have fixed roles (someone tell me if I mixed the names up): Suparna is the red dashed line sister, Chirada is the "green" sister (won't have a line just yet). At this point the "eye of the storm" will also subside.

MAIN TANK: Grab Suparna, take her and Garuda to the north edge of the arena.
OFF TANK: Grab Chirada, take her (and the DPS) to the south edge of the arena.

The closer the 2 sisters are to each-other, the more stacks of a buff called "Vulnerability Down" they have. If too close (8 stacks) you will struggle to deal double digit damage, so this is why you separate them. After about 5 seconds this buff starts kicking in (1 stack at max distance) along with green line. DPS should burn down Chirada (OT's sister).

MAIN TANK: 15? seconds-ish after sisters spawn, Garuda and Chirada (red) will teleport, do the "feather rain", then reappear. Garuda and Chirada also swap hate and positions when they reappear; this is why you take both.

Around this time Chirada should die if your DPS is high; switch to burning down Suparna. You probably have like 15 more seconds to kill her before Garuda (and any remaining sisters) teleport > feather rain > some AoE which will probably kill everyone if sister is alive. (my memory is fuzzy at this part, might be confusing with later phase)

Afterwards you'll have a bit of time to just tank and spank Garuda. If you take too long you'll have to run through the plumes and sisters phase again, but with overgeared DPS we only had to do this much. If you do take too long it will begin again from the transition phase; I'm told the directions of the following Mistrals go clockwise, so 2nd one will be east.

teleport > feather rain > Aerial Blast ends the phase. If any sisters are alive they also do it with her (so you'll die). If you're missing a lot of rocks you'll also die.

    ---

Phase 3: Repeats til the end of the fight

PHASE 3A: Eye of the storm. Spawns a bunch of plumes and a green plume (Spiny Plume). DO NOT KILL THE SPINY PLUME. You may also want to just leave it on whoever it's on for a short time.

Spiny plume applies a debuff called "Thermal Low" that stacks, maybe every 10ish seconds. At 1-2 stacks, you want someone else to take it from whoever it's on. If it's not on MT, we had MT provoke it. If it's on OT, he provokes it. It usually seems to start on one of the healers so we leave it on them for a stack. If it reaches 3 stacks on someone it can "detonate" the debuff for a ~4k AoE called Super Cyclone.

Anyways, save the Spiny plume until Garuda teleports (> feather rain > Aerial Blast). As soon as she teleports you need to kill it. THEN RUN AWAY FROM IT; it does a suicide AoE. Then run back in to where it died; you'll be in a green "Sacred Soil"-like bubble that applies a buff called Thermal High. If you do not have this on you, Mistral will hit you for like 15k+ and you'll die. If you do take a hit from the spiny's suicide aoe, you might survive this if your healers top you off quick as the reduced Mistral damage is pretty small.

PHASE 3B: Immediately after Mistral Song she will teleport and do another feather rain. So avoid the center after Blast hits. She will reappear and spawn the sisters AND a spiny plume. In about 5-10 seconds tornados will block off most of the battlefield like HM garuda's phase 2: they will be in the center and 4 cardinal corners (so draw an X on the map, and the corners are your safe zones). Same as before (including the Garuda+red teleport>feather rain>position swap), tanks need to go to opposite corners with the sisters. We do MT NW, OT SE, everyone else generally SW if they can help it. At this point I'd leave spiny plume on whoever it's on. Burn down OT's sister.

OT and melee will need to try and move through the cyclones between the AoE timings; go as soon as it "whooshes". When first sister is dead the spiny plume should be at 1-2 stacks on someone, so you need to swap hate on it. Burn down other sister. Kill plume when Garuda teleports (> feather rain). Unlike the 3A AoE, this really is Aerial Blast so you probably will die if you eat the spiny's suicide AoE. Then repeat from 3A until the fight is over.

She can last in Phase 1 longer than 30 seconds. If you don't push her into phase 2 fast enough she'll do a second Mistral Shriek from the right side of the arena (same pattern as HM's).

Hm, guess our DPS was just consistently that good.
