I could do that, but that presents another issue for me. I'll see if one of the other gamers I work with can either help get me on, or get them to assign me an external IP.
Got the bossman to approve me for firewall exceptions.
FoD and RIT are about to become a lot more interesting.
Got everything set up and I can connect to the server, however the resolution for the game itself is low. I adjusted it in Ashita for Nasomi then adjusted it for every option but the game still looks to be in low res. Menu itself updated to 1080p just the ingame graphics are low res.
There's 3 different places to adjust resolution. For graphics quality, you want background size. Crank that up to 2048x2048, it's the graphics quality. Menu size is how big menu's are. I have 1920x1200 monitors but when i do that the text is to small to read, so i did 1500x900 which made everything a little bigger for me and easier to read.
My config:
Window Size 1920x1200
Background size 2048x2048
menu size 1536x960
Unchecked show window border around ffxi
Setting background size high can and will increase cpu usage a lot, so if you run into performance issues, that's where the problem is.
Hoping to hit 50+ players online this weekend!
Stumbled upon a dunes party yesterday! They're going on almost non-stop. I've heard of htem in qufim but haven't headed out to check myself.
With those resolution settings, do you even need to do the registry hack I used to have to do on retail to get it to look nice?
I think that's what the configuration accomplishes, so it probably isn't necessary.
Reading about everyone on BG doing this private server really makes me want to play. I just don't have time for it anymore. It's cool to see everyone having a good time.
I made the same excuse, but managed to get to level 9 last night before bed.
Do it, make Ip Man proud.
I'm getting my friends and me to come back to this, we tried 14 and had an ok time, but we miss 11.
I'd love to try it but the instructions are way too confusing for me lol =/
I tried to simplify the instructions as much as possible. Most of the steps are simply installing and updating the game client. Basically you install the game as you would normally, then unzip the update.zip into the ffxi folder, then go into POL and make a bs id so you can get to the "check files" part. Then with the update.zip in there, you can select ffxi to update from the drop down in check files. That will update the client. Then unzip ashita and go.
Nope, too complicated, make a video! d:<
yeah a video would be incredibly helpful. I'm having alot of problems with checking files; I can't seem to get the options of checking the FFXI files, I only get POL and Tetra Master
edit:
found a way, downloading this patch fixed the problem, below is common issues with client
https://wiki.dspt.info/index.php/Con...ient#FFXI-3101

That's step 3 on my instructions page to download the update. Step 4 is opening the directory to put it in, and step 5 is copying the files in the zip into that directory.

I don't know how to make it any easier than that.
