So glad I have the weekend off so I don't have to deal with much of this shit. Over a foot of snow so far in my neighborhood.
Could be worse. Could be Halloween '91 again.
this is almost on that level. definitely a historic storm for April
More snow expected Wednesday. Expecting 1-3 inches.
here in marquette, MI. we got about 15 inches or so (SO FAR) on average, some spots around 18 inches (SO FAR!), mostly in higher elevations. naturally my car was parked in a spot where snow loves to pile up because i think it's hydrophillic or something. Snow was piled up just past the bottom of my windows on one side, and to the door handle on the other. thankfully i was parked on the street right in front of a driveway with a snowplow truck person, so there was a clear spot to back up into. well, kinda, there was 3 inches still there from when they had plowed last.
Still took almost an hour of digging and cursing to dig my way out because the snow was the dense heavy stuff and compacted to near ice in chunks. on top of that another snow shower has started and it was covering my windshield up to the point of zero visability in about 30 seconds, meaning i had to open my door and pray i didn't hit anything while backing up because i couldn't keep the rear windshield clear. now i know why so many cars have those rear wipers here. <_<;
I am so over snow this year.
Meanwhile in Canada...
I wish these were joke images but they're very real and very recent, while establishing every single cliche and stereotype about Canada and Canadians. The guy in skates is skating down a street in Ottawa, and the guy with a dog sled is in a town just outside of Toronto. The best part is he's going on a beer run to the liquor store so props for that lol.
And while it's raining hard in Vancouver, it's supposed to be sunny and quite lovely out tomorrow and for the rest of the week.
We're not having snow storms like you guys but I'm getting tired of this. I live about an hour south of Knoxville, TN and the temperature differences have been crazy this month. About a week and a half ago it was in the mid 80's during the day and I was able to wear shorts and a t-shirt. Then late last week it started getting cooler with highs in the upper 50's and lows just below freezing or near it. On Saturday it rained all day and into the night and then yesterday the wind started blowing (I guess with the cold front or w/e) and it hasn't stopped. It's a steady 10mph I would guess with occasional gusts up to 20. Today I don't think it got out of the 40's and everything was still wet and with the wind blowing I was chilled to the bone. I talked to my mom and a couple relatives and they said they have never seen it like this in spring in their lifetimes. In the south we have what the old timers call, "Blackberry winter" where in April it will get cooler for a week or two but then it will warm back up. It's 30 outside right now. >.< I know I don't have it as bad as some other people but I just wanted to rant.
Topical.
