We are supposed to get some rain for the first time in almost 3 weeks. This drought-like weather is crazy. We actually had some wildland fires near Astoria as well as the southern Oregon coast. This is supposed to be the wet, foggy, constant rain time of year and we have a high fire danger. I really hope something changes fast or we will be facing one hell of a fire season along with water restrictions.
Houston Icepocalypse 2014 v2 incoming tonight/tomorrow. They mentioned the possibility of 1.5 - 2 inches of snow. It's not going to start until mid morning from what they say, but that means getting home is going to be just lovely. Lots of schools already closed for tomorrow.
Aye, I have that nostalgia of missing all the old LS people from way back when. I miss my Taru Drg ;;
Gotta be careful on that ice for sure, real easy to eat shit and hurt yourself.
One thing these temperatures have been terrible about is creating less snow and just being bitterly cold instead. Normally I can do winter hikes with friends, it's not hard to go through the snow and even a little ice as long as you have crampons. But when I don't even want to go outside at the ground level, I can't imagine how terrible it is at the top of a mountain, even one that is only 1000ft elevation would be so much colder than the ground.
-43C with windchill this morning.
Its pretty nippy, but still not bad.

step yo game up son
Hey, I would welcome an ice storm. Seriously want to experience one. We've had nights where sleets of ice was everywhere, but not to that level yet.
Only major storm we got was the 1997 blizzard. I loved it. Literally was just rolling around in my one piece winter suit all day.
polar vortex'd again this weekend. -20, 60mph gusts of wind, several inches of snow, etc.
Schools are being cancelled and so are many businesses.
And before you jump on the lolFloridapussiescan'tdealwithsnow, realize that about 98% of the population here has NO idea how to drive on icy roads or snow of any kind. You can't even buy snow tires here. It's a safety measure to keep people from Darwining themselves on the roadways.
The Southern municipalities aren't equipped to handle snow either. Morons in the north still crash with millions of tons of salt on the roadways. The South doesn't have salt domes, salt trucks, plows, or any of the necessary equipment to make even the arteries in/out of major cities clear of ice or snow. So, even a light dusting of snow can be anlarger public disaster than a mild 6-8" snowstorm up here in the North.
Also, people suck at driving.
Pffft, Florida has a hockey team.
Seriously though, I know the Southern states are getting wrecked. Jabs were more for the mid-northern states whose climate is pretty similar to the ones up here in Canada.
Fucking snow. Shift is canceled today sooo time to find something to do.
Lets go live to Ollie Williams with the Blackie Weather Forcast.
