the problem in atlanta kinda escalated as people were getting stuck as they all tried to leave at once, then people started running out of fuel, and then the abandoned vehicles backing everything up began

Found this while lost in a random neighborhood.

Don't mess with Jim Cantore when he's doing a weather broadcast. I like how he takes it in stride and doesn't even stop talking.

If I'm bored at work I'll have to make an appropriate version of this for the Atlanta "Blizzocalypse"
Eh this is as close as I could make. Nothing compared to the Chicago abandoned highway.

That's a snowblower, not a plow. Although I have a plow.
As I was building it in the summer friends and family laughed at me. "we haven't gotten snow or even cold in 3 years!" Well, guess who's in a heated cab with a snowblower while those suckers are out shoveling now. It has rotating emergency lights, an FM radio with 400w amp and speakers, backup camera with 7" display, front and rear flood lights, etc.
nice. my parents have a decent snowblower but my mom wont let me put it in the garage so every winter it gets frozen up. finally came up with a design for a storage shed that won't piss me off, so this summer we'll build it. hopefully.
we got a bunch more snow today. i got lucky. checked when i went to bed, no snow at all, so i didnt set my alarm. woke up at 6 am. look out window. odd, no snow, why is my spidey sense tingling? whateva. go back to sleep, wake up again at 7:30, look outside, can barely see my car (it's like 15 feet from my bedroom window) through the wall of falling snow. the reason that's lucky... is that my apartment's property manager/owners have been having problems with people not moving their cars so the lot can be plowed, so they're threatening ever-increasing penalties if we don't have our cars moved by 8.
My dad is similar which drives my mom nuts. Every few years he spends all this money on a riding lawnmower and a plow attachment. Yet she can't get him to put the mower in the shed so it's always borked by the time they actually need it for plowing. Which of course means they don't also get to use it in the summer for the grass.
Snapped this on my way into work. Crazy morning in MN.

I recall last year hearing that the Farmers Almanac said it was going to be a bitterly cold winter. They hit the nail on the head with that one.
And for the first time in close to two weeks it's above 0 degrees this morning. Low 30's. Fuck January lol.
3 days ago I thought my toes got frostbite because I drove to work in 2 degree weather in my heat-less car.
Today I'm sweating my balls off at 50 degrees.
Monday we're supposed to get 7 inches of snow.
I hate winter.
I was able to finally take one of my bikes out for the first time in over a month! Crazy it's just a few days after the horribleness that was Birmingham, AL with 2" of snow. It took me 12 hours to get home last Tuesday
Another 4-6" coming tomorrow. Got the backup camera installed in my tractor so I can see what i'm backing into now.
hit 60 like once a week the last 3 weeks
randomass 6 inches of snow today
