    i think it was probably slightly better than the first for me, a tad long but it was enjoyable to watch all the way through. who knew bautista could be funny?

    Just got done. Fucking loved it. Great balance of comedy and action, awesome pacing, and characters you genuinely care about. Drax fucking killed it lol. You could just tell the writers had so much damn fun writing his lines. Not going to bother deciding which volume was better, they were both stellar movie.

    With Avengers: Infinity War practically around the corner a year from now, it was kind of weird GotG vol.2 seemingly added little next to nothing to the overall arc. The revelation of Celestials and Stan Lee's cameo with the Watchers, LOL, seemed to be it.

    For the record, I wasn't trying to start a debate on which of the movies is better. I just wanted to heap praise on this movie that it rightly deserves by saying it's(imo) better than what was previously the best Marvel movie.

    Just got back. It's not as good as 1. The Sovereign are completely superfluous and their reason for existence in the movie doesn't become clear till an end credit sequence. Rooker kills it.

    Liking what I am hearing in this thread! I'm going to see it tomorrow night (Thursday late here now) and I don't think I can sleep because of the anticipation. Friday's are one of my days off. WooHoo! The only thing is I didn't pre order a ticket this time. The last time I did for a Marvel movie it was a total waste cause the theater was only about half full on opening day. I live in hicksville so I feel like there are only 100 other Marvel nerds around here besides me who will go see the movie the first night. The only time movies really sell out around here is if it's Batman or some other summer movie they have hyped the shit out of. The first GotG was pretty full I remember so I hope I don't get burned this time. I guess I'll just get there a couple hours early and get one for the evening show and grab some dinner while I wait. There's a Chinese buffet like right across the street that's decent.

    Eating chinese before a 2.5 hr long movie is risky. You will either shit yourself, or be hungry by mid movie. Anyway yea great movie, Drax steals the show and Groot is ridiculously adorable.

    That doesn't make them any less superfluous. There's no logical reason for them to seek him out and physically go see him on some other planet. They would have sent out a large bounty and just let whomever got them first collect it. There are plenty of ways he could have been involved in the story besides this rather flimsy one.

    i enjoyed the first film quite a bit but still dont know much of anything about the characters compared to other marvel movies. anything i should learn beforehand for this one, or just go enjoy it as is?
