Nah he will become big groot at will when the group needs him most. People will be like wtf why didn't you do that before and he will say "I am Groot?"

Gotta keep him tiny so it leaves room for new characters to play a role. Full sized Groot is overpowered, don't think I'll expect him until they show up in Infinity Wars.

James Gunn confirming a story on Twitter that Ego The Living Planet was originally a character owned by Fox (presumably due to the Fantastic Four ownership) and that Marvel Studios essentially "traded" Fox for the character by allowing Fox to change the powers of Negasonic Teenage Warhead to something completely different of her comic powers in Deadpool. Seems like a good trade to me!

Read that too. Ego debuted in Thor, but somehow ended up in the list of characters that went to FOX.
