    - Announcement;
    Spoiler: show
    The Expendables 3 director Patrick Hughes is currently in negotiations to direct an Americanized remake of The Raid. The original film is one of the most badass action films ever made, and the sequel that is coming out in March is even better!

    Even with Gareth Evans (writer-director of the original two films) on board as producer, I don't think there's any way in hell they are going to be able to pull off a remake as good as the original.

    Here's where it gets even more ridiculous… they are looking at casting Chris Hemsworth and his brother Liam as the main characters. As much as I like Hemsworth as Thor, I can't help but laugh at the thought of him doing a movie like this. There's just no way he will be able to pull off the incredible martial arts that we saw from professionals in the original. I guess there's always a chance they could cut out the martial arts all together, but that would be even more ridiculous than remaking the movie in the first place. This just seems like it's a terrible idea. I have a feeling it will be a very watered down version of an insanely awesome franchise.

    The script for the movie was written by Brad Inglesby (Out of the Furnace).

    No please no, why remake something that's just a few years old? With part 2 already filming

    normally remakes don't bother me because worst case 1 good movie 1 bad movie (good Oldboy/bad Oldboy) best case 2 good movies (Infernal Affairs/The Departed) but seriously you guys

    seriously

    they're in the middle of making the original God damn trilogy that is getting released across the world

    Studios seem to think that this kind of thing works. No idea why - if you couldn't be bothered to see a martial arts tower block awesomefest with people speaking Indonesian, why would you see a watered down version of the same thing in English?

    Also co-signing on American version being Dread as well. I saw The Raid: Redemption 1st and watched Dread on netflix about 2 months ago and was highly disappointed that they were so similar.

    If it makes you feel better, they were shot in relatively close time frames. Hard to say one is a rip off another
