    Barspells Enhancing Magic Skill

    Barspells change their formula above 300 skill. Under 300, you get 1 resistance for each 5 skill.

    Over 300 it looks like 1 resistance for each 4 skill.

    Data points:

    487:146
    428:132
    425:131
    423:130

    All consistent with the proposed formula, which reduces to (Skill/4)+25 above 300.

    Thanks for the extra verification Byrth.

    Probably caps at 500 skill for 150 total resistance, but I haven't checked it.

    np, took like 2 minutes spamming spells and making people think I was a bot in port jeuno with my mule. I just figured it was good to hit a low range above the equation change.

    412 skill = approximately 5 minute barspell (4 minute and 57 seconds?).

    This indicates that the duration equation (which predicts about 5:30 duration with 412 skill) has likely changed. It's either something different or capped at 5 minutes.

    Edit: Messing around with it has convinced me that elemental barspells cap at 5 minute duration. The equation isn't perfect (it's a few seconds off at 300 skill), but it's close enough considering everyone and their mom is going to be over the cap.

    Following SE's post about spell caps I tested and barspells do cap at a base of 150 or 500 skill. Maximum WHM can get is +185 with capped merits and gear.

    Other things that may cap at 500 skill are:
    Phalanx Spells (next tier may not be hittable)
    Temper
    RDM Enspells
    Enspell IIs
    Endark/Enlight
    Divine Emblem bonus?
    Occultation, other BLU enhancing spells
    All Blood Pact:Wards? (Several were already confirmed)


    Non-500 caps:
    Stoneskin (still)
    Ninjutsu damage bonus for San spells probably caps at 475 skill

    I think the maximum Enhancing magic skill for RDM is currently 522 (In Abyssea on Lightsday and if you're lucky with augments...), and the next tier for Phalanx should be 529 skill.
    Can any other jobs get that extra +7 skill?

    I don't know if it can be proven that Stoneskin doesn't cap at 500 skill though, unless someone found a lower cap already?
    13 MND + 500 skill should be 349 HP stoneskin
    13 MND + 501 skill should be 350 HP capped stoneskin, unless skill capped at 500...

    Reaching 13 MND with 501 skill might be possible with:
    Tarutaru RDM/BLM ideal lowest level, cast Impact on a Colibri, then cast Shock, then equip a lot of MND- gear, and eat some food with MND- effects...
    Before you cast Impact, if you cast Gain-MND and equip MND+ gear it should help a lot, iirc.
