After over a year of working on it I finished my Darth Vader costume and joined the 501st Legion to do charity events. Or, if anything, I have a really fancy Halloween costume to take my kids out trick or treating.

A little under $5K. I had nearly every piece custom made to fit me from various artists and vendors around the world.

If I could handle painting with nice automotive paint and clear coating, as well as had a full work shop to complete rough kits myself rather than finished products, oh and if I could sew really well and sew leather I could have gotten costs down to $3K easily.

Another price hit was the voice changer, that alone was $400, but I can sound like Vader and it has a breathing loop.

I'm really pleased with how it came out. I am already scheduled to do a children's hospital visit next month, appear on stage at a Weird Al concert in September, do a 9/11 5K charity event ( no I will not be running it's a workout just trying to walk around in this thing, and the heat... holy shit the heat). Then I'll be looking at attending a wedding and Rogue One movie premieres in my local area.

I have a few jerk students, nothing I can't handle but they really make me roll my eyes because they're disrespectful little twats who think that their (dumb) conversations are more important than mine. But I also have some kids who, after I gave them a short bellwork prompt, came up to me later and begged me to read what they'd written because they were too shy to share but they wanted me to see it. I've known these kids for about 8 days now. And when a kid comes up to me and says, "Hey, I really kind of took this and ran with it, do you mind reading it? Because I'm proud of it," that just makes my day. I love my job.

So yeah, fuck the haters.
