More of a "I need to do 3 leves for this book, not 8." Annoyance. And I remember reading about people finding ways around this months and months ago for crafting leves but dont remember the solution.

I was at the right NPC. Got it after completing 5 other leves, which is pure bullshit. Surely there's a reliable way around this?

You mean fieldcraft I think, there's a pool of 4 or 5 leves but only 2 available at a time, and there's a way to make the one you want come up more reliably. Tradecraft ones don't change, just the ordering at the NPC.

It might hinge on actually knowing the slot that your desired leve belongs to though. (so it's only really useful if you want to spam it) You might just have to fight the RNG to get the one you want.

I too cannot find the literature that detailed it, I'm guessing it was probably on reddit.

Must mean gathering leves, b/c all crafting leves are up all the time.

I've completed all the books and none have been gathering. What you need to do is, if one is not up, go to one of the other two areas an check. One of them will ALWAYS be up and that one will unlock the other one or both. If 1 only then do that one and the 3rd will be up.

So whats actually needed from a FATE to get atma? Ive been hearing a ton of different things.

Do you need bronze/silver/gold? Can you get one off a failing fate, or from a successful one only?

Any medal works, win or lose.

Medal and be in the zone when it ends is all that matters. So tag as many as you can.

Just adding more information for shits and giggles. From what I've seen over the 3 days I've spent Atma farming.


You don't need to stay in the fate from start to finish
You don't need to claim the boss in the fates
You don't need to attend level sync'd only fates
You don't need to stay level sync'd for the drop to come

You can trade the 7 items for those fates that require turn ins, and leave and get a drop
staying in an area for over an hour doesn't lower your drop rate (It's already that low)

Something I'm noticing as a bad habit in general are people keep saying "I farmed for 5 hours yesterday in one area with no drop!" This is useless information, If you said you farmed for 5 hours and only attended 60 fates, that's a poor time ratio which means you're in a low populated area giving no fates meaning you're standing there doing nothing for too long. I sat in Lower La Noscea yesterday for 5 hours 5:30 - 10:30 took a 30 minute dinner break, and in those 5 hours I only managed 86 fates before I got a drop. that's 3.1~ minutes a fate, and I know for the first 2 hours I was sitting there for about 5 minutes between fates waiting for them to pop.

In those 5 hours I had a party where 5 other people came and went with their drops.
Person A Joined and left with a drop after 25 fates.
Person B Joined and left after 43 fates with a drop
Person C came and I went to another area, I'm not sure if he ever managed a drop (was workin on the JP time theory)
Person D joined for less than 10 fates and left with a drop.
Person E Joined at 9:03 Est time working on the JP clock idea. managed a drop after 12 fates. Since this was Atma of the Fish he theorized Local time which for him would be CST.
I wish I kept a better track of the other members, but I only thought about trying to keep a log with other players about 2 hours into my farming.

coincidentally this still comes close to my 2.5% theory (2.8%)...it's obviously not entirely accurate because I didn't get exact number of fates, only assumed they all made it to the fates I was attending while they were in my party and started once they joined my party. I know some players didn't make every fates as they would warp back for a repair, or go to another fate instead of stay for a chain.

I believe the leaving after an hour idea is like when you're playing the slots, you might just feel like the area is unlucky and it's not your winning machine. I also feel like if you stick it out for the duration you will get your drop.

at this moment I'm at 440~ fates for my Atma farming adventure. (355 over the weekend and 86 last night) which puts my 11/12 Atma at a 2.5% drop rate.

I'll probably set up a test this weekend to try and grind out 2 atma in one area straight see how long it takes and how many fates.

I think the Animus is going to be the least of my concerns for a while. I'd rather farm Leviathan and get a Mirror. I'll do it eventually because I know it'll be upgradeable over time, but we're probably looking at least another month before the next sub-patch comes in and adds more content for it.

Just do it....i100 Levi is even more RNG unless your FC is farming together and drops are pre-arranged. ~1/40 drop rate plus 8 people lotting isn't something to bank on.

Yeah, my group does levi every just about every night and I'm already about to finish up my animus before I've even seen 1 mirror. Animus isn't half bad either.

10 wins a day for 80 days and 8 members could get one mirror each. But then again RNG, could be more could be less. Saw two mirrors dropped tonight.

As far as I know, you just need to talk to the NPC that appears to start Enemy of My Enemy. The NPC will be a little closer to the Wrench in the Works FATE rather than its actual location. If no one talks to them, they just disappear eventually, so the FATE never starts.

Specifically the npc spawns behind the nearby sylphs slightly northeast of where xivdb has it marked on the map. But yeah, if everybody afks and waits for fate music it will never happen.

What's really awesome is when enemy ends and everybody runs away before enmity starts and a bunch of mobs spawn for all the people at the end of enemy. Had to go crazy taking threat off the escort npc while everybody got back.

Yeah, I've been there on BLM. Physick spam to get hate, then run a little bit afield and Blizzard II to lock them in place. Probably did this 6 or 7 times over the course of the atma grind there.
