Half that freaking movie takes place at the poker game, its terrible. How do you almost get killed twice during a game of cards? I enjoy the movie up til the card game and I enjoy the movie after the card game, resuming with the car chase, but everything in between is so abysmally slow.
Oh boy, you'd better not read the novels. LOL

I thought Skyfall was pretty good but it lost a lot of points with me for having a messy and extremely derivative plot(Mission Impossible and Home Alone, sup).

Hopefully the reviews pick up. I'm still determined to see this Friday night after I get off work, but a bit skeptical given the trailers making this feel like they pulled a QoS.

Thought it was kinda ho-hum. Also, I don't know who did the opening song, but it was garbage.

Good not great. Has some fantastic cinematography and scenes, plot is pretty weak though.

Just got back from it. Overall not bad. Not close to being as good as Royale/Skyfall, but still a lot better than QoS. But Krandor and Delirium are right. The opening song is and plot are pretty meh, but it does have some good action sequences.

One thing I still don't get though...
    Spoiler: show
Was the ending supposed to indicate Bond retired from being a 00 agent? And by retire I mean until the next film where the girl is most likely killed off

    Spoiler: show
I know he's been saying he doesn't want to do it again, but Craig has one more Bond film on his contract, right?

Also, if I remember, the rumor was that they wanted to do Casino -> QoS -> Third Film, but QoS did bad so they did Skyfall instead. Assuming my memory is correct, anyone else get the feeling this was the film which should have followed QoS modified to allow for Skyfall?

That skit with Colbert was the longest five minutes of my life, so slow.

I liked the movie overall but I felt like some of the previous ones were a lot stronger.

This is so bad, slow as hell and a villain that you can't care one whit about. I didn't fall asleep but I came close many many times.

I believe he was contracted for 5 or 6 films.

I agree with the "meh" reviews. Bautista's role was dull, one line in film. No significance. Plot was ok, just poorly dramatized. Spent more time chasing stuff around just to find the villain. Sam Smith actually did a good job with the song, not a big fan of Smith. I would say the song didnt seem to fit the theme of the movie too much, but the movie didnt seem to have a theme anyway, so meh.

I'll have to go Skyfall > Casino > QoS & Spectre

I honestly really enjoyed it from start to finish. It really reminded me of the old school Bonds with Sean Connery specifically when...
    Spoiler: show
Batista was fighting Bond and his lady on the train. Thought of Dr. No and the fight scene with no music near the end from the old 1962 film. Seemed nostalgic.
However I agree with the order of films greatness so far. But I would put this one above QoS.

Casino Royale was a good film. It was not a good Bond film.

I saw it and liked it, action scenes were amazing. Plot was weak and you don't even learn anyone's motives til almost 2 hrs in. No thoughts on song. It is what it is.

    Spoiler: show
The scene were he met Spectre organization flopped so hard. Had the potential to be an epic scene and started strong (other than the Mickey Mouse comment) but when Bautista walks in and gouges the dudes eyes out, it was like jumping the shark almost. The bond girls were A+ though, not sure I like the idea that Bond would hang it up for a woman - its not his character - but the girls played their roles well. Q/M/Moneypenny were good but I would've liked to see the loss of Dench's M weigh on their character's conscience more too. With the ending, I liked the empty gun, it leaves it up to debate whether Bond would've executed him (had he had bullets). The train scenes were great though.... very classic Bond. Seemed like every Connery film he was traveling on a train with a villain to fight or woman to bang.

There is absolutely no universe where Diamonds are Forever and Quantum of Solace are better than Spectre. I also think it's fucking absurd that Skyfall is the top rated Bond film; it is literally the first Mission Impossible and Home Alone retold in a Bond movie.

I thought it was good but not great. The entire movie felt like an homage to the previous films. So many scenes were either thematically or designed in a way to imitate previous flicks. I really think they cast Lea Sydoux because she has a similar face to Diana Rigg.

As much as I hated listening to the theme when it came out, it actually sounded good at the IMAX theatre during the credits. Regardless, I still don't like it.

Doesn't matter. With the franchise changing movie studios all those contracts go out the window

Enjoyed it for being a Bond film. The plots are usually never anything to write home about in these movies, so I disregard most of that. The action scenes and style is what draws me and this one had both in good fashion.

Pretty much this. Batista had like 2 lines the whole movie, which isn't a bad thing.

I don't think he even had that many lol. He said "shit" during the train scene and that was it.

Movie was fun, I saw it last night. Seemed like a throwback to the older ones which I liked about it. And the Sam Smith song was pretty good too, especially with the rad opening sequence. Christopher Waltz was solid, and his first appearance was great! Up until Bautista's entrance anyway lol
