I watched it last night from western Oregon. Got several good pictures before my camera stopped working near the apex of the eclipse. It was just too dark for my camera to focus on the moon.
I did a time lapse but I haven't put the photos together yet. We had ok seeing conditions but the clouds rolled in at the peak of the eclipse.
Saw the eclipse about half an hour from peak myself. Was confused because it was a trace amount of cloud cover in the sky. Combined with the blurred shadow covering the moon instead of it's usual cut and dry self during it's normal phases, i thought my vision was shot to hell, because the thing looked like a blur, lol. (well, shot even more than normal, seeing as how i'm horribly near sighted :D)
Was nice seeing a lunar eclipse though, last time i saw one was when i was a little kid. Last couple years have been a treat for me, saw my first partial solar eclipse a while back also.
Unfortunately there was just enough clouds in the sky to make my photos come out fuzzy but I did get to watch the eclipse. It was really neat.
Friend of mine got some nice shots.
Mars, so bright right now.
Nice!
Yeah Mars was at opposition a few days ago so it got pretty bright.
Here is my submission; my time lapse settings were at a higher ISO so I have a lot of noise in the photo:
Canon 350D
Celestron C8 SCT @f/6.3
1/4sec IS 800
What focal length was that? Mine were taken @300:f/5.6:IS1600/s1/200.
Nah its cool dude, he's only got as much money into that setup as I do in my yearly rent -_-.
Nah the scope (8 inch mirror) isn't as expensive as the newer stuff they have out. Every time I see the C14 (14 inch mirror) I drool but I can't justify dropping 6 Grand on a telescope.
This is my usual setup. The foil looking thing over the front of the tube is a Solar Filter I used for the Venus Transit:
It can be a pain in the ass though because it takes about 15 minutes to setup and about 5 minutes to get the telescope properly aligned so that the computerized motor can track the stars in sync with the Earths Rotation.
Tummie that is an epic setup. I am super jealous. Very nice images you got of the eclipse too.
I'm absolutely jealous of that scope.
Thanks. I still need another telescope to piggyback on the current one for guiding since the built in GoTo system on the mount isn't 100% accurate and I get trails when doing long exposures. It's a fun hobby and I love peoples reactions when I show them Saturn and they flip out when they see the ring system.
