X-Men movie producer Lauren Shuler Donner wanted it; Channing Tatum wanted it; the world wan... well, the world was basically okay with it. And now Donner has confirmed that Tatum will indeed play the Cajun X-Man Gambit for some kind of X-movie.
The question now is whether he will appear in X-Men: Apocalypse, which will be set in the '80s, or if he'll be introduced in his own modern solo movie, which Donner has discussed wanting to make for quite some time. But what I really want to know is if Tatum can do a credible New Orleans accent. The line between a credible Cajun accent and a fake Cajun accent that makes you want to rip off your ears is razor-thin, and if Tatum's on the wrong side of that line, no amount of exploding playing cards will make the movie watchable.
Le sigh.
Probably Apoc movie to start.
MY NAME REMY
I went to high school with Channing at Gaither in Tampa. Dude has a bit of a southern drawl, I think with some voice coaching he can nail the accent.
Guy sat in front of me in social studies in 10th grade, good on him for getting his success on.
Tatum has actually improved quite a bit. I wouldn't count him out just yet.
Posted this in X-men Days of Future Past, but worth the repost
haha I wish. He was the QB and I was a scrawny burnout that wore the same flannel shirt everyday. Player status didn't occur until later in life.
He was a total bro though, always polite and shit. I also played little league ball with him. He has this cut under his eye when this kid Scott Skinner punched him against a chain link fence during tryouts when we were 14. I was standing right there shit was cray.
Not at all who I'd expect for Gambit but these movies get you in a Stockholm Syndrome type of state. Stuck with an actor or plot line or w/e and you just accept that this is what's happening and root for them to win. Well at least I do, Big Superheromovie steady gets my $15.
Knee-jerk reaction when I seent it on FB today though was... No.
It's going to be shitty.
I'm warming up to Tatum after recently watching the Jump Street films. Although the Jupiter Ascending film may bring the scale down if it bombs.
if you dont like tatum after what he did in this is the end, then i just dont know about you as a person
I want to see it but it's not on Netflix unless I find another route...
Yeah that bit with him in This is the End was so perfectly unexpected and out of place it made me dislike him less. Plus I heard that in the new movie he's in with Steve Carell and Hulk where he plays a wrestler he did an impromptu unscripted scene where he bashed his head into a mirror for real so it was real blood n shit for the scene.
The best part about his scene in This Is The End was that it was originally supposed to be done by Emma Watson but she refused to do it. They had already written several lines about Channing Tatum living in the neighborhood so they just called him up on a whim to see if he would do it and he was down.
wat he do? i forgot.
