I suddenly want that so much.
I suddenly want that so much.
Every time you think SE is out of touch they do something DQ related and totally redeem themselves
PS4 version confirmed for the West, not that there was any doubt:
Same announcement but it's been uploaded by Playstation EU.
Video is private. =/
Watching someone stream the JP version and he has a Bee mount. Fucking GOTY.
Looks like the sales of DQXI in Japan are doing well for the first week.
2.080.806 units, with the 3DS and PS4 versions doing 1.130.468 & 950.338 respectively.

Ds selling more, interesting. But I guess that's usual for Japan
Not really that interesting. Japan loves its portables.
The interesting part is actually the PS4 version selling close to 1m. That doesn't include digital sales I think and apparently PS4 has the highest digital sales among all platforms in JP so it could be even closer.
Spoiler: show
Been watching some streams, and it's pretty much classic DQ, which means it's all very slow, turn-based combat, but it does look gorgeous. Not sure why the Nintendo streams showed them sort of running around on the battlefield, because the battles I've seen, there's none of that.
So while SE is trying to experiment and push FF in a new direction, they're keeping DQ deeply DEEPLY rooted in it's fundamental gameplay style. Works for me.
FF has always been pushing in new directions since FFII. Dragon Quest was an Enix franchise before the merger so they're simply keeping both series true to their nature.

I don't think there's been an unambiguous "my deal is sex appeal" DQ character since IV, and Maya was 8-bit so she probably doesn't count. Unless you include her DQ Heroes appearance.
