Does anyone else think they look hollow because of the chest crystal/lighting? Especially with the Red and Black ranger, it looks like the purple glow is leaking through other holes in the armor.

Yeah, those look bad. There's a certain charm to cheap spandex suits that these just don't have.

I went to compare them to the 1997 versions. I would have been ok with a look similar to that. These suits on the other hand look terrible and screams of all the CGI they will end up doing for the action sequences.

It's not nostalgia. Suit design is very important for these shows, and these are a bunch of over designed garbage. If they didn't want to go with the spandex there are other ways to update the look and not have it be hot trash. Here's what's probably my favorite suit designs from one of the Japanese shows.



They could have gone with a good looking leather suit like these if they wanted to have something not cheap looking for the movie.
