Our daughter grew up with 2 dogs(she's almost 4... so still growing up) Now we only have 1 dog but she has/had 0 issues with hair or pet dander. It's actually better for them in the long run anyways.

Yeah, studies consistently say kids w/ pets tend to be healthier for a variety of reasons:

We have two cats atm, but plan on adding a dog to our family once my son is in kindergarten. We all want one so badly hahaha.
My wife really wants a dog.
I really don't want any more responsibility.

Yall act like walking a dog isn't enjoyable, especially with the family. Dont get a boring dog lol.

So anyone else with kids in school have any ideas to make mornings go easier? My 6yo doesn't want to go to school and every morning is a battle to get him ready. Once he is there he loves it and has good friends he plays with but man mornings suck.
Is he not wanting to get up because he's not sleeping enough? (just throwing something out there - tired kids are grumpy kids)
If he's really bad about it, I tend to punish him lol. Like, you ignored me in the morning and wouldn't get ready? No Legos tonight. Or w/e He normally gets better for a week or two before he starts pushing shit again.
Yeah that is where we are at. I take away video games first then Adventure Time and Steven Universe (that one hurts because I enjoy those shows too dammit) but man I really don't want to get into the punishment cycle. He gets it after the fact when the punishment is handed down but during the punishments don't stop the behavior. I keep trying to explain the idea that good behavior gets good things and bad behavior gets punishments and the thing you are resisting happens anyway so why resist? Alas logic doesn't work on 6yo's.
It doesn't work in the moment, but I definitely see a change after the fact (till he conveniently forgets again). But I hear ya. Punishing the kid ends up being extra shitty for the parent most of the time lol.
Honestly I'd take away video games and tv in the mornings, not as punishment per se but just to not hype him up before school. That stuff can wait til the afternoon.
Or be really explicit that he can't do any of that until after he's had breakfast and gotten dressed, brushed his teeth, whatever else you need from him to get ready in the morning.

My daughter is the same way. She's a fight to get out of bed (And its fun because we have one of those bunk beds with the desk underneath them).
Once she's up its just hammering her to do the usual stuff and then a fight to get her hair brushed. She doesn't mess around with electronics and she doesn't watch tv/youtube until she's dressed and ready to go to the bus.
To be clear there is no video games or tv in the morning before we go to school. The punishment is that he can't have those things at the end of the day after school. He never gets special things like that until necessary stuff is done first.
I know this is a normal battle but mostly we are just in a phase right now where I feel frustrated with him more frequently than not and it sucks. I hope we get past this soon. Also we are only 1 week into the school year so maybe it will improve towards the middle of the year.
I can't believe my kiddo is almost 2.
