Rumor going around that the game is getting a ninja release this week.
I honestly still have no idea what the gameplay is supposed to focus on. Perhaps someone can explain for me, but from what I've seen so far it just looks like the game has you travel from world to world naming things and gathering of some materials and maybe there's some spaceship fighting and... that's it?
On planets it looks like a fancy walking simulator, but in space I guess there is dog fighting, at least there was in early concept.
There was so much hype when the game was first announced back at I think E3 from like 2 years ago. But every subsequent trailer or preview has just shown a whole lotta nothing since.
Confuses me that there has been no minecraft like building stuff in it. It'd fit the scope of the game.
I think they plan on gradually adding gameplay mechanics after release. This could mean a lot of frustration and disappointment, because there is no reason why they shouldn't have at least basic combat mechanics shown. I still really enjoy the idea of this game and its potential, but paying full-price would be out of the question right now without more character-building aspects and interaction mechanics known.
Wait really? I don't wanna play a glorified Alpha.
all it is right now is a really cool framework for a game, imo
If they wanted to ninja release they should've done it live on colbert.
Agreed with most of above, it's not looking like it has a lot of depth right now.
It's Paris Games Week, tons of Playstation news over the next few days.
So June 2016.
At least I see ground combat this time.

http://kotaku.com/no-mans-sky-is-act...oon-1762630482No Man’s Sky finally has a release date: June 21, 2016. It’ll be out for PC and PS4
The never to be released game has a release date!
Dunno if a game announced in 2013 qualifies for that title when games like TLG and FFXV exist.
Pre-orders up on GoG, get a ship when you do so: https://www.gog.com/game/no_mans_sky
Also release dates for everywhere:
June 22nd in Europe and Australia, and June 24th in the UK and Rest of World.
Having to wait an extra 3 days for it here, wtf man =/
Feels like every major concern of mine (lack of direction, combat, and customization) has been answered. Hope they add a bit more player interactivity later on when people will likely start meeting each other as they get closer to the center. The only thing bugging me is the pop-in as it is a bit more obvious to me now after having watched so much footage, so I'm looking forward to being in awe when I crank up the settings on PC.
