Damn that is some next level patent troll stuff.
Damn that is some next level patent troll stuff.
owning a word should not be possible. so fucking stupid.
I'm going to go patent breathing in a specific pattern, and then sue everyone for living for infringing on my patent by occasionally without knowing it using what I own without paying me.
I guess the lawsuits been settled and they can keep the title No Man's Sky.
I don't want to live on this planet anymore. Or any planet where something this breathtakingly stupid is legally allowed to happen.
4ch commit seppuku for the death threats? Au contraire, I hope 4ch trolls the everliving fuck out of the patent holders for this idiocy. Patenting a common as fuck word like "sky", are you fucking kidding me.
Well, trademarks on words are generally only applied to whatever specific field the word is being applied to. Obviously though given they've gone after Microsoft and this game, Sky has a very broad range covered which kinda makes sense given how large of a company they are.
Not sure how this ranks in the grand scheme of name trolling compared to Banner Saga getting used over use of the word "saga"
I remember reading an article someone posted on BG over a company trying to copyright computer coding. It was pretty scary stuff because it had implications on whether or not you can patent a "language" iirc.
Reading some more into it, Sky has also gone to court with Microsoft over Skype (which they won).
Didn't Microsoft even own Skype originally? That only makes it seem Sky only goes after certain entities with high public recognition.
No they bought it awhile back, but the lawsuit didn't occur until after Microsoft had purchased it and tried to register the trademark in the UK.
The flight looked awful, when finally on a planet it looked acceptable.
Combat looks as good as I imagined. I don't care if it sucks anyways, it could have lame ass stationary Star Trek TNG-esque battles and I would still play it lol Plus, it's not like they can't improve it through future patches.
Feeling a bit more hyped about this than Deus Ex lately, which is a reversal from how I was during E3. I think I'm more underwhelmed with what I've seen from that game's combat than this one's.
Wow @ the fight trailer and not in a good way.
Dual lasers - no hit stuff going on, only single shots seen, looks like fairly horrific auto aim.
Blue plasma - generated in front of the craft doesn't feel like it's coming from a weapon on your craft, looks like shit, sounds like shit. no lead indicator, explosion on the carrier it was hitting was laughably bad ( I think xwing vs tie fighter looked better ).
Ground combat lol
That gun has the effect of feeling like a pea shooter, the recoil animation and firing sounds are weak.
When it's hitting targets there's no response hit animation, hitsound or reaction from the target.
The release is in less than a month but a Dutch company is claiming that Hello Games used its patented math formula to make the game's procedurally generated worlds.
idk man really looking like this can go either way. definitely one of those try before you buy games for me.
Yeah the great thing is there's no rush, can take a month and see how people feel then.
Not gonna miss out on anything.
