I'm just surprised it's both of them, since they're owned by different companies.
Long as no one else does it, since I regularly link the likes of GiantBomb (owned by CBSi, same as GameSpot) and the Playstation Blog.

Links are probably BG retaliation, they wouldn't want to take away hits. They probably just want the quote trains down, if I had to guess.. but the fuck do I know.
Im still surprised this site gets any attention at all. Grew up right before my eyes *tear*
here is the thing, they could have looked at our site, have seen our traffic from any of the free reporting sites that are available on the internet and then looked and verified we arent actually running any sort of ad revenue based advertising.
From there they could have sent a nice letter asking us to be cool and in return, we would have been cool.
Guess which path they took
The path that's gonna get them a lot of backlash.
If I get some down time at work ill research if they can even do this. It might just be an incident of the big man trying to strut their authority when none exists in the first place. If anything, BG's links help them since BG gives them more traffic. I am not sure their reasoning behind this aside just sending you all a boilerplated C&D request w/o any factual/legal reasoning behind it.. just because they can
So do we report posts containing quotes of an earlier post with an IGN/Gamespot link? Or are those automatically adjusted?
Its gonna get them a ton of backlash, indeed.
Related: Since everyone is pulling the "man who gets game news from them?!" card, drop some links to the super cereal sites you're all using. I could use more daily reads.
I just wait for my twitter stream to blow up with people talking about stuff, then look to youtube for the inevitable videos being posted.
so, ANY link? even ones that are hidden with text like the one in the op here? http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/115...zzard-buys-IPL
Just realized I digest all of my gaming news through social media and giantbomb. Not sure what that says about me, besides that I'm behind the curve.
been out of town with no internet and just got home 15 minutes ago, is there a way to just delete all my posts in gaming or nuke my account and just have me make a new one? that would be easier for you guys than manually doing it a post at a time I imagine (and I'll obviously never post from them in the future)
I know that the mods are already aware of this, but IGN has a larger market than just gaming. I went straight for the whole Bentertainment forum to start reporting posts, but 6souls was ahead of me. Which also means CNET, Metacritic, GameFAQs, and CBSSports (hi2u NFL thread).

Holy shit Quotes. Fuck. What a bunch of incessant whinos.
Looks like a lot of those hits from google have been taken care of.
Why bold GameFaqs? I'd wager it doesn't get more than 1 link a year here
