Yeah, it's a solid game, especially if you're into 8-bit nostalgia. Extremely polished and conveys that NES feeling very well. If you're a fan of the NES Mega Man games you'll probably enjoy this. Expect similar length (4-8 hours for a full playthrough, not including achievements) and maybe slightly lower difficulty than a Mega Man game. There's a New Game + mode available that does up the difficulty a bit, but I haven't played through it. The music is absolutely amazing too, and you can check it out at the composer's band camp (http://virt.bandcamp.com/album/shove...nal-soundtrack).
Was just looking for a new Vita or 3DS game but I settled on Kirby. Might try this after.
A very enjoyable and polished Mega Metroidvania with a dash of Dark Souls.
i snagged this on 3DS with the leftover credit i had from last years' SMT/FE promo, haven't played a ton of it yet but i'm quite impressed with the first few stages. it's worth it for the soundtrack alone honestly, i had forgotten that virt makes some top-notch tunes and this game quickly reminded me of that.
I'm liking it a lot
I got it on the Wii U. It made me giddy as hell to play a pseudo 8-bit game in 1080p. Game is fun as hell. Some of the achievements are just brutal, though. Getting through the game on one life must lead to a lot of broken peripherals.
Here's an article from one of the developers that talks about some of their design choices for maintaining the NES aesthetic and some things they decided not to strictly adhere to.

Plague of Shadows DLC revealed
All aboard the hype train!
Don't feel like rehosting all the .gifs, but news on upcoming free DLC:
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/201...ns_and_contentWe're working on two new campaigns: Specter Knight and King Knight.
Campaigns will not be releasing at the same time. Specter Knight will be released first!
No estimated release date for any Update quite yet.
Similar to our last update, we'll probably go overboard too. Hey! Maybe that's why we're called Yacht Club Games!
New campaigns will come with new Feats and Challenges for the new campaign character!
We're also working on two new modes: Body Swap and Battle Mode!
Just like Plague of Shadows releasing with Challenge Mode, we're planning to release one of these new modes alongside each campaign.
Battle Mode is being designed as a single screen, multiple controller, multiplayer mode and is currently not planned to arrive on handheld versions of the game. We'll be sure to announce if there are any changes on that front.
Much like Plague of Shadows, all of the announced upcoming Shovel Knight content will be free on ALL platforms! For disc/cart and digital versions!
