Was watching ManU v Leicester. Fell asleep a little after the half when the score was ManU 3, Leicester 1.

Woke back up and my glasses had fallen off. I squinted at the TV and was like, "Need glasses. Leicester does not have 5."

Guess my vision is getting better.

I haven't been much other than the Dutch, but Leicester is fucking balling out for a team that just came up. Burnley draw sucks but they draw everybody so meh.

Dutch just look like they don't care anymore after what's happened in the last 2 WC and euro 2012.

So lol MLS, but:

With 2 games left to play, the Seattle Sounders and the LA Galaxy are in a race for the "title" (Supporter's Shield). Both teams are sitting on sixty points, and both teams have two games left to play.

The final two games the teams have to play?
LA Galaxy vs Seattle Sounders
Seattle Sounders vs LA Galaxy

If the Sounders win either game or draw to a tie both games, they get the shield. If the Galaxy get a win and tie (or win both), then the Galaxy get the shield.

This would all be amazingly exciting if there weren't any playoffs and rendering most of this moot and at best a bullet point.

Also marks the last two games of Landon Donovan's career.

Every MLS fan I know basically considers the shield to be more important than the MLS cup.

Since you don't really give the MLS any credit, it's not really any surprise that you disregard that.

It was mostly in jest, but it is kind of silly that there's a title race wherein conferences already don't equally play each other through the season; and then on top of that playoffs that otherwise determine a champion. It's not something unique to MLS (see: NHL), but it doesn't make it any less silly.

My major MLS gripes don't have very much to do with its league/game structure.

No arguments from me here.

I'm hoping the new franchises help set the league on a path to more parity, but honestly that's probably a good five years out at minimum. LAG/SSFC have been dramatically favored by the league in terms of transfers/fungible rules, and while I know that benefits my particular team, there are other teams that are gritty enough to make it work without having international superstars "bought up" by the league.
