Been hitting the gym 5 days a week with my girl for the last month. Gonna be YOU WA SHOCK status by this time next year.

Was wondering why I no longer had it poping up in my sub's.
I promised myself I would start going to the gym atleast 3 times a week, that was 6 months ago and I haven't been once....where/how do you get the enthusiasm to do it?
I'm developing moobs and still cant get off my arse
Fucking hell..hit the wrong button and reply got erased.
Anyway find something you want to do , set a goal and just stay committed to it. It sucks at first but now my energy level , physical appearance and self esteem have changed completely.
I've still got a good 1.5-2 years of work ahead of me and 120 lbs MORE to lose after losing 43 lbs already , but it's worth it now and will be then too.
I hit the gym 3-5 times a week plus do aerobic videos at home twice a week also. I'm not coordinated enough for a class so that part works for me.
I love the C25k program and app , it's made me a fan of running. I'm sure I get judged as the fat girl running haha but I've learned to not care , this is for me.
How I started was I hit the wall. I couldn't do things I enjoyed and my energy level was rock bottom. Now I love my life. It's been worth everything.
Just need to commit yourself, and have a backwards & forward "all-seeing, glancing eye" in your mind. Look to the past to correct your mistake -- you have to see whatever is stopping you from going, whatever excuse it is and then tell yourself, "I won't sit down today, I'm going to the gym X days in a week, I can do Y later" and just go, don't even think about it further. If you give yourself time to think on your commitment, you give yourself time to doubt yourself and find reasons and excuses to stay at home instead. You then look to the future. "I want to get swole as fuck so I can pick up chicks," "I want to get healthy[er] so I won't die at a younger age," "Fuck being fat forever." You use those motivations to push yourself. When you do get to the gym, you go hard as fuck at whatever you are doing, leave everything else at the door. You went to the gym to work out, not think about the last Call of Duty match you just had, or the movie you just watched. You're also not thinking about how nice that girls ass is on the treadmill, you gotta be all about working yourself ragged. Use music or watch TV or whatever you need to do to distract yourself, it helps. It also trains your mind to not think about shit at home, shit that will create an excuse for you to not go back to the gym in the next day or two.
Ironically as you keep going to the gym you'll realize, video games, movies, netflix, animeu, porn, etc will still be there at home, but that you can create a special slot of time for yourself to work on getting yourself right and can go right back into those things again if you want (as long as it doesn't lead to you eating unhealthy.)
I just signed up for the gym again. Been a long time since I went and kinda had the same issue. I need to get my ass moving because it's not getting any smaller sitting here.
I would try audio books if you want something to distract you. I tried music but having ADD I tend to get bored with it halfway through so listening to audio books keeps my mind busy while I would go walking which should work the same in the gym.
Our gym at work finally got one of those pull up/dip assist machines. I can now actually pretend I'm doing a pull up without thinking I'm going to rip every muscle in my chest and arms.
I keep myself motivated by taking a class at my gym once a week. It forces me to go because I paid for the class, and it keeps me working out during the week because I don't want to be the guy who's not progressing from class to class.
Goals so far this year...
5 plate deadlift - check
4 plate squat - check
3 plate bench- Its gonna be close. I've been working up to 275x3-5 with annoying elbow tendonitis from baseball.
225 Strict OHP - Still a ways off but a priority right now. I've been working up to 165x3-5.
Sitting around 5'10 190-195 10-12% bf. I plan on going to 210-215 this winter depending on fat and strength gains but I'm pretty satisfied so far.
my fat ass is off the couch and going to class again.
Frustrated as fuck over how slow arms grow. Legs are blowing up, six pack is coming in nicely, back is forming great, but the arms are sooo slooow. argh.
new PRs hit yesterday:
Snatch 84.75kg (186.79lbs)
C&J: 120kg (262lbs)
Front Squat: 165kg (363lbs)
All the while on a caloric deficit as I attempt to make a 77kg weight class for an October USAW Competition.
should add links to the OP. t-nation is a good resource and milkster posted a really good link to different workouts based on goals in the last thread

They raised the totals to qualify for the American Open.

My deficit isn't too bad so I'm still lifting 5 days a week with double workouts on M/F. I'm hitting about 175 -200 reps total a week between snatches, cleans, jerks, presses, pulls, and squats.
