It's rumored that the Netflix shows are no longer being recognized as officially part of the MCU and is simply a standalone universe.
They never really seemed canon in the first place.
There is no way iron fist could be cannon in any universe.
Ali really impressed me as Cotton. I'm pretty hyped to see where this goes. I take it this is a movie, and not a D+ series?
I didn't know how badly I wanted this.
Blade Is Officially An MCU Phase 5 Movie

Very cool. I woulda guessed it to be a D+ series or something else, like Hulu getting Ghost Rider. With it being phase 5, I wonder if they're going to go the route of vamps were always a thing, or if Dr. Strange and some multiverse shenanigans will introduce them, mutants, and others.

Deadline has confirmed that playwright Stacy Osei-Kuffour has signed on to pen the Blade reboot from Disney and Marvel. Two-time Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali will be stepping into the role of the titular character, the half-vampire, half-mortal hero. No director has been announced.
Marvel had no comment.
Osei-Kuffour becomes the first Black woman to pen a Marvel movie, following the news of Nia DaCosta being tapped to helm Captain Marvel 2, making her the studios’ first Black woman director. Osei-Kuffour’s writing credits include HBO’s Watchmen, Amazon’s Hunters, and the Hulu series Pen15, for which she earned an Emmy nom for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.

Nic Pizzolatto has gone Marvel.
The creator of acclaimed crime anthology, True Detective, is working on Blade, Marvel Studios’ vampire thriller starring Mahershala Ali.
The development marks a True Detective reunion as Ali starred in season three of Pizzolatto’s HBO show.
Blade is batting its wings towards a late May start of production in Atlanta with Yann Demange, who helmed the pilot of HBO’s boundary-pushing horror series Lovecraft Country, in the director’s chair.
Blade currently has a script by Michael Starrbury, who earned an Emmy nomination for penning an episode of Ava DuVernay’s drama, When They See Us. Sources say Pizzolatto is working off Starrbury’s draft and has been keyboarding for a few weeks now.
Filming was set to begin next month, but has been postponed now due to the WGA strike.
