The Tick (w/o Patrick Warburton) - Canceled

    http://www.theverge.com/2014/8/30/60...n-amazon-pilot
In 2002, Fox cancelled superhero TV show The Tick just eight episodes in. Now, over a decade later, Amazon Studios is giving the show a second chance. According to The Wrap and People, star Patrick Warburton (Rules of Engagement, Ted, Seinfeld) has made a deal with rights holders Sony Television to produce a pilot for a rebooted version of The Tick.

In the original show, Warburton played the Tick — a big, blue, and clumsy parody of a superhero. The series was based on a comic of the same name, and a successful ‘90s animated kids show featuring the hero pre-dated the failed live-action effort on Fox. The show was favorably received by critics at the time — and has since garnered a bit of a cult following — but was cancelled before completion of its first season.

Now that superheroes are making bank at box offices, Amazon's original series arm is giving The Tick a shot. Like other shows that go through Amazon Studios, a pilot episode of The Tick will stream online along with other new shows, and viewers' votes will help decide if it gets produced into a full series for Amazon Prime Instant Video. You can check out the show's original 2001 pilot below.

The live-action was OK, but they changed some of the names and "powers" of some of the characters to what they thought the audience would like. I hope it does better the second time around.

    Patrick Warburton is out, Synopsis
Griffin Newman (Draft Day) cast as Arthur | Valorie Curry (The Following) cast as Dot Everest

    Spoiler: show

In the new incarnation, the blue suit-wearing Tick is recovering from a memory loss. He ends up re-teaming with Arthur to fight evil. Newman’s Arthur, played in the Fox series by David Burke, had been labeled as a schizophrenic because of his statements that evil plans to rule the city, and no one believes him until he runs into Tick. Curry’s Dot Everest is a nurse who loves her brother Arthur to death and worries about him.

I was rather bummed when i saw Warburton wasn't in for this role, but i'll happily take serafinowicz as a second choice

I don't know how to feel about this. I want it to be really good, but I'm just not feeling this new cast.

The pilot is now live and I love it! But, one little nitpick, Tick's suit actually looks like a suit. It has gaps that need to be sealed up. It should be like a second skin, not something that looks like it can be removed. Also, Warburton was brought on to help produce the series. There is hope.

Watched the pilot today and it was better than I was expecting. Serafinowicz was quite good, he nailed the personality of The Tick. He doesn't quite have the physical presence that Warburton did, but he is bigger than I thought and is appropriately larger than Arthur. I really hope it gets picked up, it has tons of potential.

    Spoiler: show
The flashback to Arthur's childhood was some crazy black comedy. The Terror stealing his ice cream was the cherry on top of Arthur's shit sundae.
