I feel bad I'm getting this game 3 times (Switch, PC, PS4). Nah, not really. Totally glad to triple dip this gem.
Speaking of the PC version I believe it's now scheduled for April some time and now uses DX11
April 16th on Steam & GOG

Switch Gameplay
https://ysviii.com/special/alternati...IGN_2018_04_09We're excited to show off some gameplay footage from the Nintendo Switch edition of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana! Please keep in mind that this is still a development build of the game, so we would appreciate mentioning this to readers.
In addition, we have alternate Nintendo Switch cover sheets for the game! These designs did not win in the recent reverse cover contest for the title, but fans can download them nonetheless right here, print them out, and deck out their game case with it when Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana launches on June 26 (NA) and June 29 (EU).
And finally, we're happy to announce that the official website has been updated to reflect the re-localized version of the game. You can find everything from character profiles to gameplay information about Ys VIII. Please note that some screenshots are still being updated, so we appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Shame the Vita version seems like ass, is that still the only version with the least shit in it?
As expected, the PC port blows.
Yeah, dunno why it would be expected. Ys has been on PC for quite some time now.
Looks like gamepad problems (not recognizing controllers or showing the wrong buttons for the attached controller), vysnc not working, audio issues, prioritizing integrated GPU over dedicated ones, random crashes.
Good thing they delayed the port for months to fix all these problems.
And the problems are expected because NIS is doing the port over Xseed, and NIS has a very bad record of porting games to PC.
Most of the Ys games on Steam currently are the actual PC versions which Falcom developed and translated by XSEED with some adjustments such as widescreen support. The only real exceptions are Seven and Memories of Celceta.
Ys VIII is being handled by NIS and they underestimated how much work would be involved with the port.
XSeed handled all previous Ys games, this one is by NISA. People have reported upwards of 30+ crashes an hour, insanely bad optimization issues (20 fps with 1080ti), gamepad recognition issues, music stuttering. It's basically unplayable. A sad day for Ys, this game deserves way more love than the shit show this entire release has been. At least the PS4 version is good and has the re-released localization.
Tried the PC version and yeah it's an unoptimized piece of garbage. Constant screen tearing when the camera moves even with V-Sync enabled and the moment I crashed on the beach my game locked up. Already requesting a refund.
EDIT: Tried again for the hell of it. Screen tearing seemed resolved after restart but still can't get past the intro after Adol washes up on shore.
I will also chime in on the PC port being terrible. When I saved my game the first time, the save menu screen started strobing... My right-thumbstick doesn't turn and the game is so choppy and laggy. (i5-4690k/1060 6gb)
I'll probably pick it up for the Switch. Very disappointed.
The sad thing is the Switch version is in development but looks more stable than the PC version
wow, and this is after several delays? disappointing
NISA Released a statement regarding the issues:
Overall going to take more than that to convince me to buy again. I'm still baffled on why this game needs V-Sync to work with a 1070.Hello everyone,
Today we launched Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA for Steam and for GOG.com. Awareness of certain issues has arisen from both internal testing and from submissions from diligent players eager to dive into the game.
We appreciate your enthusiasm, and thank for your patience.

Thank you for your support,
-NISA Staff
Tried PC version...crashed after the first tutorial boss lol. I laughed heartily.
I think the funny thing is the crashes aren't even part of NISA's known issues list. But according to the some people on the Steam Discussion it's our fault for not fixing it on our own.
Yes people are really that stupid.
hum, didn't NISA port this one? There's a reason I avoid them like the plague. Shit PC ports wasn't one of them.. but
Yes they did.
