By the way Corr, finally beat this last night... and I have to assume this game has consequences for the entire Ys series?

Not really. Ys games are designed to be pretty loosely connected so you can play them in any order. Kind of like Zelda in a sense.

Most recent patch for this game made it actually playable on PC. I've been playing for about an hr without any crashes.

Huh surprising. Though I'm a bit iffy since if it's still shit I dunno if Steam will let me refund again

I'm at the end now essentially, 2 crashes since starting the game. Both were on launch at the title. Played in 4k without any lag at any point.

    Great game, that said.

Yeah I just finished it on PS4. There's apparently some extra shit after you beat it. But I thoroughly enjoyed the game. All the characters (both primary and secondary) were likable. It was a really easy game though. I had almost no challenge with everything. After the final boss I was like... is that it?Anyway, I'm curious to check out a couple other Ys games. recommendations?

Ys is pretty easy but the challenge dungeons are the crazy stuff (or just play harder settings).

Ys I & II are PC88 ports and play COMPLETELY differently than current Ys games. A lot like Zelda with items and just trying things with very little direction.
Ys III is where the series starts playing like current games. It's a fantastic story.
Ys IV remake is on Vita.
Ys V never made it to the states, I believe.
Ys VI sucks. A remake may change this, but the PS2 version was poop.
Ys VII is fantastic. The story, has a few "oh, shit!" moments.
Ys Origins is okay. I know a lot of people like it. 700 years before Ys I and explains a lot of the main components of Ys lore.

I wouldn't go as far as to say Ys VI sucks, but it's probably one of the weaker entries comparably. It's also worth keeping mind that it's one of the older games on the list WITHOUT a remake yet, as theshun notes.

Amazing soundtrack, though. Some plot points with particular characters that gives contexts for Celceta and Seven.

The extra dungeon rewards you accessories that allow you to use blunt, piercing, or slashing damage depending on what you have equipped. Once you have all 3 you do have the ability to change your party size between 1-3 members using the crystal at Castaway island. You can also carry them over in NG+.

As for others, I"d say Oath in Felghana/Origin are pretty good. Hack and slashers with some platforming but Felghana is a bit on the short side (Roughly 8ish hours)

After completing Ni No Kuni II, and hearing nothing at all out Expansion DLC, I looked around and spotted this on the switch store. Picked it up after looking at ONE review, and don't regret it at all. I don't know how I missed this when it was first put out.

Switch version isn't half bad minus it sacrifices a few things. But hey I'm not complaining since a portable version of Ys VIII is great

    Sacrifices what? graphics or content?

I'm really having fun with this on the switch though.

Graphics. I noticed in handheld the graphic quality seems to jump around a bit and larger enemies in the distance seem ti have a very low framerate until you're closer.

Only version I know that sacrifices content is PSVita, the one version you definitely should not get.

Yeah I have noticed the way some enemies walk in the background. It's pretty funny
