This was a infectious diseases specialist from yale new haven hospital that diagnosed her.

Even House was wrong, bro. I second getting the second opinion.
Well, then I'm guessing this isn't the first doctor she's seen about this then. Lack of backstory lead me to believe some PCP just casually made the diagnosis. That sucks dude. I feel for her. She'll have a stigma attached to her, even by her family. Did the doctor bring up anti-depressants and/or antipsychotics? Not necessarily to treat the morgellons, but to treat depression and psychosis that morgellons can bring about. This diagnosis will probably put a real strain on her emotional state.
on second thought, after doing some quick research and reading, fucking lol
Actually I rescind my prior warning. Tit is right, this shit is fucking crazy.
my thinking is that since wiki seems pretty clear on the psychosis element, and she (and others) do actually have fibers, there are actually two conditions here, morgellon's being a psychosis and the other being misdiagnosed as morgellon's.
but, for lack of a better term, i guess you could use morgellon's. seems like a bad idea to me, though, given the psychosis label. mental illness, especially one like that, is not a label you want. i'd fight for a different diagnosis... one that isn't already swarming with chemtrailers and whatnot. i agree with seeing a dermatologist.
From my (albeit) limited understanding, they can protrude from lesions. Possibly due to scratching. They don't necessarily move around as you're looking at them. They'll present in one place on one visit and move elsewhere the next day. Very brilliant minds disagree on this diagnosis and whether it's psychosis or presents with very real and very physical manifestations. There's a Harvard professor that believes it's a scratching disorder that hasn't been properly given it's credence, there's an OSU research lab that believes it's very real and present with very physical manifestations, then there's the CDC who believes it's completely psychosis. Regardless, people legitimately suffer terribly, and that needs to be treated.
I get that, just OP made it sound like the specs were moving right then and there.
Do not get me wrong I completely agree with you on your last sentence. I think it would fucking suck to have this disease, or be married to someone who has it. So I am not taking it lightly.
IF the OP did see specs moving on the fly though, that would say to mean he really needs to see someone else just in case.
sandy, read his last post. by his, i mean tyche
By "doctor" do you mean an actual M.D., or a homeoquack/chiroquack/etc? I've never heard of this being taken seriously by someone who didn't also believe it was caused by chemtrails or alien implants.
Most psychosis (schizophrenia for instance) affects one population much more than another. In the case of Schizophrenia, diagnosis in children is rather rare. In the case of morgellons, it's equal. It's a weird disease and I would never dismiss it as a "mental disease", as I don't think there near enough research for anyone to make an informed opinion.
This is not a disease you want to google and internet your way through. As Kuro says, seek real medical advice.
I get that. And maybe I am interpreting the op's words wrong, but I dunno if anyone has seen them actually moving along the skin (outside of those with the disease).
With that said, mental or real or w/e doesn't matter to me. It causes people to pick and pick at their skin. Sometimes even their eyeballs. Which is the only part that I think is important. Shit fucking sucks no matter what is causing it.
Im at work and my boss is hovering I'll respond when I get home .
Yes it is crazy but very real whats she's going through and not just in her head. It all started with the lower right part of her jaw itching and what she thought was pimples. Turned into an unhealable sore which spread soon after white worm type thing started to come out of her skin and even eyes. We've seen the worms or threads come out of her stool, urine, vomit, and the eye doctor even saw them in her eye when she went to see him cause it was bothering her vision. Also her PCP and a Emergency room doctor first saw her and both recommended she go see the specialist.
As far as the moving of the specks are concerned yes they pop up in different places very frequently and when you squeeze them they have the white things in them. The doctor collected samples of them and when he went to re-examine the spot where he took them from they came back. His only response was unusual. And to answer someones question he is a M.D.
They've done a full blood workup but the complete results wont come back for 2 more days and I'm not sure if that includes a workup on her liver. But I will be sure to ask when we hear from him.
I would go to another doctor. Given the lack of firm evidence regarding this being an actual disease, I would not trust the diagnosis. What are they basing it on? Presumption? Google? What's trustworthy about that?
I'd also personally wonder if this doctor is a naturopath or anything of the sort. Are they?
