Twin Peaks limited series to be produced for Showtime

    http://deadline.com/2014/10/twin-pea...-frost-845804/
Twin Peaks fans’ quarter-century wait is over. One of the top cult series of all time is coming back with a new limited series on Showtime from its original creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost. I’ve learned that the nine-episode series will go into production in 2015 for a premiere in 2016 to mark the 25th anniversary of when the series finished its run on ABC. In a fact that will delight Twin Peaks devotees, Lynch and Frost will write and produce all nine episodes, with Lynch set to direct every episode.

Just watched Twin Peaks couple weeks ago. Don't understand the hype tbh. It was a good show, maybe great at that time, but it would never work today imo. People want answers too bad to deal with cliffhanger shit all the time.

Is this just one big boob reference?

I just want more Cooper, thumbs ups, and surreal moments.

Cautiously optimistic, but it helps that Lynch is doing the grunt work given half the filler in S2 wasn't by him or Mark, and it showed terribly. That said, it's been a long fucking time since season 2 ended, so who knows how they'll manage to recapture the show's essence.

This show was ahead of its time. The show paved the way for a lot of great shows later on. It was also very influential. One of my favorite shows of all time (X-Files) was created because of Twin Peaks. I know he's been busy lately with short films and directing music vids but don't know how I feel about this tho. Hope he still has it.

I am over the moon. One of my favorite shows of all time. I have no idea how they will start this continuation of the show since it's been so long since it ended. Last thing we saw was Agent Cooper seemingly possessed by Bob saying,"How's Maddy?" over and over. My guess is he appears 25 years later and things take off from there. Since the show will be on Showtime, I want the full Lynch fucked up treatment.

Welp time for Netflix to pick it up....right? Seems like that's the thing now.

David Lynch has departed Showtime's "Twin Peaks" revival.

In a series of tweets this evening, the eccentric writer/director announced that he was walking away from the planned sequel to the early '90s cult classic he and Mark Frost created for ABC

Sources at Showtime suggest the project remains status quo, but we'll see how long this lasts now that Lynch is no longer involved. Will Frost, Kyle MacLachlan, or anyone else want to continue without the man whose peculiar spark made the original series so memorable? You need Frost around to give some kind of narrative coherence to what Lynch does, but "Twin Peaks" without Lynch is utterly pointless.

I also have to wonder how much of this is really about the budget, and how much is Lynch getting cold feet, both about revisiting one of his most beloved projects 25 years later, and about directing every episode of the show, when he's barely directed anything in this century.

Whatever the reason, I suppose this spares us the potential of huge disappointment if the alchemy couldn't be recreated after so much time away from this universe. But whether it was good or bad, I just wanted to see them try.

So maybe Laura should have said "I'll see you in 26 years" after Netflix picks this up.

I don't get the hype behind the show. I tried watching it and got about halfway into the 2nd season before I lost interest. It was really.... boring...

Not sure if this kerfuffle was just a hype device or not.
