BG 'Getting Older' Hairline Thread

I'm 26 and my hair line I've noticed has started to do the typical adult male receding a bit, from the top of my forehead to the front of the top of my head, with the sides of the front cutting back a little further (see 1 and 2 below).

I've worn my hair long my whole life (since I was like 6) so this shows, at least in my mind, more prominently than it does on guys with average length hair. The men on my mother's side didn't go bald, but they definitely receded in the front to a 2 or 3 and generally got thinner, equally, all over.

While I've read the BB Megathreads (linked below for reference), I take everything they say with a grain of salt cause the guys on there have talked themselves into believing they have the cure for everything. I trust BG's input in this matter and I figure with how the core group all got involved in FFXI in HS/College we're now collectively a lot of 20-something and 30-something dudes facing this change or chicks who are dating/married to a dude going through this change.

Has anyone tried anything, be it procedures or products, to slow/reverse this change? I asked my PCP and he sorta laughed it off and said at my age with my hair its not worth the cost or the risk of side effects / medical allergic reactions. In lieu of any procedures or products, does anyone have any recommendations for haircuts that work with this receding, especially if you or your man has been a long-hair person prior to giving in to the inevitability of time? I'd rather get a jump on this early rather than wait til I'm halfway through the change before even exploring solutions.

lol, weird i had a dream i was balding just this morning.. like i was outside of my body in the dream looking @ the top of my head somehow. But yea im not bald or balding, father isnt either. Think im good fro 4 lyfe

One of my good friends from high-school was thining by the time he was 19. Said fuck it and just started shaving. BBC(bald by choice not... the other acronym) IS BEAUTIFUL!

Receding is normal but varies in degree person to person, male pattern baldness passes through mothers side, not fathers

I've heard this, but never really thought about it. Hopefully since my grandfather still has hair at 85, I'm good.

But my kids are fuckkkkeedddd. My father-in-law got some scraggly hair/bald/thing goin on.

I'm 39 and had a slowly thinning top since the late 20's/very early 30's. Five years or so ago, my barber recommended I use a shampoo called Nioxin. It's definitely slowed down the rate of loss, although it hasn't convinced any dead follicles to come back to life. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who is looking to half-ass fight off baldness.

Looking at my Amazon history on the product, a bottle lasts about 9 months (avg. 6 showers/week), so I think price-wise, it's not a whole lot more than regular shampoo. You can get it without the conditioner, but your price/unit goes up.

i mentioned it to my GI because i'm pretty sure the last med i was on was thinning my hair (the receding hairline is all me i think) and she suggested rogaine etc. but shes GI so idk.

Have you considered this is just the pens getting eliminated early from the playoffs the past 6 yrs despite being a favorite? Stop pulling your own hair out!
