I'm not entirely sure what you mean "makes more per game sale." Because if you mean it literally, I'm pretty sure blu-rays are significantly cheaper to print than cartridges, and it's a $60 game vs $40, so there's should be higher profit margins on each copy sold of XV that way. If you mean each copy sold make back a larger portion of the development/marketing cost used on the game, then I absolutely agree with you.

But XV is aiming for 10 million copies (lol), BD and BS combined might have barely crested 2 million. If XV tanks, there's no chance in hell for BD to pull them back up.

Yeah, I mean that BD probably makes back more of its dev cost per sale of the game than FFXV will make back per sale of its game.

I don't think discs are that much cheaper than flash cards anymore, but I could be wrong.

I was more putting a tongue in cheek accusation that SE must be so cautious about FFXV not meeting goals that they have to gin up odd '4th Anniversary' promotions for games that have modest (but profitable) fanbases at best. I'm sure with XIV still providing monthly income that they're not truly worried about bottom lines just yet, but a 4th anniversary is just damned odd.

Final Fantasy XIII trilogy is coming to PS4 during the next year. The bundle will include Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2 and Lightning Returns on separate discs to be enjoined in 1080p and 60fps.

Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Collection. This compilation will include Final Fantasy I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII and IX and it will be released on PS4 and PS Vita in a single disc/card. It will include two versions of Final Fantasy I to VI: original versions from NES/SNES and modern ports (mostly mobile ports). FF VII to XI will be based only in newest ports. Final Fantasy II and III from NES will receive an official English translation (first time).

– Final Fantasy I, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions and Chrono Trigger could be released on Steam before the end of 2017.

– Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy XV are coming to PC, but likely not until early-mid 2018.

Sounds phony since you wouldn't be able to cram all that onto a single Vita cartridge unless they really want you to have to download half of the pack like they did with FFX/X-2 in North America.

It'd be also way too generous of SE to put all of that on a single release given they had that expensive 25th Anniversary box with physical CD/DVD/UMD prints of the entire series on Sony platforms, and how they could piece-meal it all instead digitally, or break it out into multiple releases (NES-era, SNES, PS1).

Not like I already don't own FF1-9 on my Vita as it stands via PS1 Classics and the FF3 port from DS.

Actually, just put the damn PSP release of FF1 & FF2 on PSN already.

I have no doubts that a collection is happening and I really hope it's on Vita as well.
I'm expecting these to be all ports of recent releases (I-II from PSP, III-IV remakes, V-VI-VII-VIII-IX mobile) but I hope I'm wrong here and they do proper remasters for V and VI. I'd even welcome a 2D remaster of III considering we can already play the remake on Vita.

Except the 2013 Steam release of 8 was just a direct port of the abhorrent 2000 PC version, with boosters and achievements added to make people who suck at the game feel like they suck less at the game.

Steam versions of 7 and 9 got much more attention -- total graphical overhaul to menus and UI, adjustments to the core graphical engines to properly support today's industry-acceptable screen resolutions. While ports of 7 and 9 shine, 8's still looks and sounds like the era it came from.
