That's a different branch of SE, they don't operate in the same way (Jim Sterling actually explained this in one of his videos). There's no way SE Japan ever considered quitting FF altogether, it's their only big series.
SE EU/US are indeed awful though.

Then what point was there in releasing a statement saying the series may have gotten canceled if it didn't sell well? I suppose to some it might motivate them to buy the next one out of fear, but to others (myself included) it says SE has no idea how to show any restraint and patience and makes me significantly less likely to buy their next game.

Kingdom Hearts Memorial Music Box - 15th Anniversary Celebration

Square Enix has opened a new website called the “Kingdom Hearts Memorial Music Box” in commemoration of Kingdom Hearts‘ 15th anniversary.

The website features a selection of music indicated by character icons, including “Sora,” “Riku,” “Kairi I,” “Roxas,” “Aqua,” “The 13th Struggle,” “Blast Away! Gummi Ship I,” and “Tension Rising.” Each selection sees Sora run or walk across a five-line staff while music plays and famous lines from that character appear at the bottom of the screen. You can also move the camera around while Sora moves.

Edit: In thinking about this a little more, I see two things.

1. VC is close to being ready, and Nintendo held it up so that they could have titles like this playtested and available for launch (like the Mother 3 rumors).
2. SE is doing this outside the VC, but that may be a good thing if they are doing an english translation as paying 19.99 vs 9.99 for a VC title may help with localization costs.
