    Seems like SE doesn't really believe in Scorpio at all. And I assume that speaks for the whole japanese industry as well. Maybe cancelling the few exclusive games you had wasn't a smart idea after all Microsoft.

    No surprise, Japanese developers wanting to support Japanese hardware. The support for Xbox over in Japan land is very poor and has been that way since its launched there.

    This would be awesome. I spent a ton of time playing the first one. To me it was what I always wanted from Monster Hunter games but every time I tried MH, I just couldn't get into them.

    That number, if i remember correctly, is awfully close to the loss that Tokyo RPG Factory reported late last year which probably still falls into this fiscal year. The majority of which was likely set-up costs.

    This to me sounds like an excuse to cut a division that simply wasnt pulling any money or enough consumer attention into it. Their episodic Hitman didn't pay off.

    The notice does not list IO Interactive entirely as the culprit of the loss, if i'm reading it correctly, but simply states that in order to avoid more losses, they are focusing attention on certain lines of business and cutting ones that don't fit into that as well as incorporating any costs associated with divesting themselves of IO.

    Here is their Q4/Fiscal Year report, which posted a nice increase in sales and income but not a whole lot of profit - which they seem to be blaming on no major FFXIV expansion for an increase in subscription based revenue.

    Christ, they have decent products, but they're releasing them terribly and are fucking their bottom line because of it. Feel kinda bad for them considering the talent they have.

    Having Nomura do everything (literally) for that 4-5 year stretch before XV was shifted didn't help things. They're way to long on dev cycles and wildly inefficient in their use of specially created in-house engines for their games that anything short of a million seller isn't worth their time in the long run.

    I feel nothing for their business decisions, because theyve had a console generation and a half to correct them ever since the time of FFXIII. It's their own damn fault for letting a majority of their IP's fall to the wayside in favor of a hyper realistic FF and continual KH re-releases. Even if a new Mana or Chrono title would sell at loss or at cost, it would do them a great amount of service in re-building brand loyalty.

    For real. Look how awesome Shovel Knight (not from Square, I know) is, and I bet it was cheap as hell to make, comparatively speaking.

    Fear Effect: Sedna demo now available
    Fear Effect Sedna is set four years after the events of the original Fear Effect game, and things have changed for the team. Hana, freed from the Triad, lives with Rain in Hong Kong and works as an occasional mercenary, while Deke has grown apart from them since Glas returned to the US.

    Hana accepts a small mission for a shadowy organization asking for her services. Her target: a mysterious ancient statuette held by the Chinese ambassador in France. She sees it as a good opportunity to visit her birthplace… But this ‘easy’ mission is about to lead Hana to something way bigger than she expected.

    Meanwhile Glas is approached by a client who catches his attention enough that he soon sets out for Greenland.
