I think it's a little early for april fools content to be leaking, if it were the 29th or 30th I could see things starting to leak but this would be too early.

So I got to looking, Square Enix doesn't really have a lot of unreleased announced games right now... think this will mean we may get another SE presser at E3?
The lights dim, the president of Square walks out on stage, "On January 31st, we released the most ground breaking game, two years ago we announce its remake, today ... we SWITCH things in a new direction, COMING TO THE NINTENDO SWITCH, FINAL FANTASY 7!" Que FF7 game play and the crowd goes mild.
You make jokes, but Cloud was in Smash for a reason. Not saying its for FF7 Remake reasons, but for reasons we have yet to see.
Per SD3 Video: Few people on reddit made some good points. The game is running with a frame, which means this isnt VC or a different take on VC.
Also, the joycons used in the video appear to be retail versions, so theyre not (likely) playing on a devkit Switch.
Snake was in Smash and it didn't mean anything really. Cloud has been in a number of Nintendo titles already (Theatrhytm series is one of them, Explorers too) so it's no real surprise to see him in Smash. I was actually surprised to NOT see Cloud in Sony's brawler but they obivously didn't put much effort there.
Cross Post with Switch Thread
It was a PS1 game.
Really hoping that ends up coming west, but highly doubt it.
That doesn't make it a N64 game.
Yeah, they didn't even start working on VII for the N64. They probably jumped ship when Nintendo's and Sony's partnership ended and Sony went on with their Playstation plans.
They did some 3D work based on FFVI for the N64 but that's it.
Development began in 1994 and really was supposed to be for SNES. The team stopped to help finish Chrono Trigger. By 1995, the team decided to forego the safe 2D (SNES) path for the risky 3D (N64 and PS1) path. Sony helped do a tech demo of FFVI, and Nintendo stayed with carts, so Square went with Sony (and actually moved ALL projects from Nintendo's platform to Sony's).
This is a great read about Nintendo:

Still doesn't make it a N64 game. It came out for PS1.
If we want to get to brass tacks, Xenogears was *technically* FF7 anyways.
