"Square Enix Japan IP" is giving me pause.
I expect Hanjuku Hero level remakes and not anything substantial.

I will pay $60 if they give me xenogears with all the cut content lol
But I'm not expecting these remakes to add much in terms of content
How did they end up doing a FF8 port? Just do that again

Looks like it will be awhile before any SE games get remade. In addition to Panzer II, they're also developing remakes for the Fear Effect and House of the Dead series.

Dontnod had a minority stake purchased by... Tencent.
Someone should ask SE if they know whether or not XI still exists.
Every game Disney forces their dirty hands on fails miserably because they keep letting the corporate bean-counters call the shots instead of people who actually understand the market.
The MCU was basically the worst thing to happen to everything else Marvel since Disney only sees it as advertising for the MCU.

If SE thinks I’m paying money to get my heart broken again in 4k ultra HD they are dead ass wrong
https://twitter.com/serkantoto/statu...809602/photo/1Bloomberg has reported today that there is interest from several buyers to acquire Square Enix. However, this report is not based on any announcement by SQUARE ENIX HOLDINGS CO., LTD. We do not consider selling off the company or any part of its businesses, nor have we received any offer from any third party to acquire the company or any part of its businesses.
I believe this is the Bloomberg article:

Spoiler: show
I would not be surprised if SE was maybe floating selling or loaning out some IP use and lines got crossed somewhere.
Sony probably doesn't have the money to buy SE but would love to.
Nintendo most certainly has the money, but they don't like spending it.
Microsoft fits the bill in both having the money and wanting to, but after just dropping 7.5B on Bethesda they are maybe a little hesitant to be out 15B in a single fiscal year.
Amazon/Google could, and in their hubris may view a move like that as setting themselves up to succeed. But it wont, and they need more help than a one company salve.
Microsoft could do good things with an IP like Star Ocean. Nintendo or Monolith could do great things with the Mana IP. Both could do well with new SaGa entries. MS nabbing use of something like Crono could benefit their standing in Japan. Theres a lot for SE to benefit from if they stop having tunnel vision.
